How many use Mozilla Firefox and whats your evaluation???

Clean Install and Upgrade on two separate machines, nope. If you got it working you probably downloaded some beta version.

Just installed Firefox to see how it compared to Mozilla.

+ Definitely faster

- There doesn't seem to be a way of opening bookmark (or set of bookmarks) in a new tab (or tabs). This is really annoying because it was a fantastic feature.

Middle mouse button in the bookmark sidebar or toolbar. Works for me!

If you middle-mouse button a folder of bookmarks, it opens them all, though unfortunately it opens one of them in your current tab (if that makes sense) which is mildly irritating.

As per usual, there is a plugin for that. Currently, firefox is too bar at times. IIRC, you might be able to set it via the "about:config" page.

It works OOTB for me. You're right, there do seem to be some config values relating to middle mouse behaviour.

But how about in the pull down menu for Bookmarks? I've got 100s of the beggars so I can't put them in a toolbar :(

Mozilla had a nice section in the preferences which doesn't seem to be in Firefox :(

PS: If this new browser crashes, will it be a case of "Firefox down"? :p

Yep, pull-down the menu, middle-click on the bookmark (or folder of BMs) in the menu hierarchy, opens them in a new tab (for me at least).
Not for me. If I have, say, 5 tabs open and then I try that it closes all the existing tabs (!! !!) and then opens the new set.

DAMNED annoying.

nope.
you simply are wrong - i dont know how to break it to you, but you are.
Go to the actual TBE website - that would be here

Not using some "beta" version, or anything special at all.
And it works fine for all my friends also.
There isnt any "get it working trick" either. I don't understand your problem at all.

20040709 was the beta version Althornin. It just became official today. The prior official version before this was 20040614 and 20040621. Those did not work in Firefox 0.9, as I mentioned earlier. This issue is discussed at length at MozillaZine and the Mozilla.org forums.

Um, ok - whatever.
I just go to his site and install - says nothing about beta versions.
Besides, I am not using 20040709, i am using 20040621, and it works fine.
And the version i had installed when i upgraded to Firefox .9 worked fine as well.
Would you like a screenshot?
Or you could go to the link i provided you with, and look at the forums, and see that it works fine with firefox .9 (of course, some versions of TBE have had certain bugs, like the constantly cropping up javascript ones).

Honestly, I dont know what your problem is - you tell me "it doesnt work", when it DOES, and HAS, since day freaking one!

Althornin,

When the versions prior to 20040709 have a failure rate with 0.9 of at least 70% according to the reports at MozillaZine and Mozilla.org, that qualifies as not working. I assumed that you must have downloaded the 20040709 beta version due to the fact that the odds of getting a working prior version are frankly rather low. Apparently that isn't the case. I'm not sure why you're writing in such a hissy manner, but really, this is just not worth it.

WolfsBane58,

Yes, it takes care of the Shell security hole. You can also take care of it by creating a setting in 0.9 and 0.9.1 called network.protocol-handler.external.shell, with a value of false. That will do the same thing. You will need to open a tab, navigate it to about:config, and create the key there. Make sure it is a boolean value.

FIXED URL!

I have been using Firefox for some time and it´s GREAT, comparing it to IE its just stupid.

I recommend Firefox and some extensions to have the ubber l33t browsing machine:

-Image Zoom (last one is version 0.1.5)
Lets you right click in every image and zoom to desired size in your crowser while navigating any web page.

-Super drag and go (THE REAL MUST HAVE) (version 0.2.3)
Lets you drag any link or bookmark or history page and when moving to a blank space and releasing the mouse button it opens automatically the link in a new tab.
This way you can open new tabs at a lighting speed withou the need of the "right mouse-->open in new tab".

-Close tab on double click (another MUST HAVE) (version 0.1.1)
The name tells you all.
Simply close the tab when double clicking at it.
1 click to open the tab. Double click to close it.
With this extension and the drag and drop you can browse hyper fast through many pages.and while looking many pages and waiting for other to download.
