How important is HDMI on a HDTV?

I can get a good deal on but no HDMI. It has DVI though.

I heard they whole ICT flags thing, dont want to buy a TV that eventually may be no good (although if they wait til 2012 I guess I'll be needing a new TV then anyway).

Anyway basically, isn't there gonna be a DVI-HDMI adaptor? If so I probably wont worry about the whole thing.

As long as the DVI is HDCP and you have no need for HDMI1.3 in future you should be safe.
There are DVI - HDMI adapters available already, as are cables with HDMI at one end and DVI at other.
