HAHAHAHA funny to see someone else get shat on in the forum.

Next time maybe put a warning in bold saying that this is a joke making fun of miscommunications unforuntaly this specific example shows a miss communication due to an accent and should not be takening as the only example that could be made..

I could say that australian's are good and are able to laugh at themselves but then I'd be racist in infering that they ain't.

Just don't let a new zelander post in this thread or me and killer might not be able to control ourselves ( lets hope new zeland dont win this ruby world cup thats on or else us aussies won't hear the end of it :/ )

Exactly, and I don't post links that make fun of their hardships. I respect what they've gone threw and don't hold something that's intrinsic to a particular heritage, nationality, race or whatever against them.

I've read this 4 times and it's still as obtuse as the first time I read it. How does Roswell intrinsically make fun of humans?

Yet, If I saw two aliens making fun of my "race" due to the fact that we use a "primative" language, are "primative" thinkers and thus aren't worthy of a place or rights in the greater universe - hell yes I'd be pist.

And guess what, thats exactly what people said about my, and many others, ancestors who came from Southern or Eastern Europe, or Africa, or the Far East. So, lets make fun of it again.

and perhaps thats just the problem . I have also been gettnig pissed hearing people make fun of arnold. Why because he has a delect and can't speak english all that well. Yet he makes more than all the people making fun of him . Yes even letterman and leno . I try not to make fun of anyone and the only time I joke around about someones back rounds or physical defects or diffrences is with my friends . But i wuold never go up to a black guy and call him the n word. Or make a joke about it like haha i'll tie you up to the back of my pick up and show you around town. Because that is just mean . A huge amount of comedy is offensive. It's often one of properties that makes a joke funny. How many jokes would we be left with if we took away all the offensive ones. I would want you to make remarks about me to me and behind my back.

yea i get all my friends laughing esp my sisters female friends . I'm a funny guy too. I never have to insult anyone to make them laugh though.

Everyone has my respect till they do something to loose it .

Those guys can be easily talked to. You remember my last joke I posted about some guy getting his mum pregnant?

John thought it was inappropriate and I asked him why, he told me his reason nice and politely and things were settled.
That's one reason I respect John, he knows how to handle things properly and he is also a reasonable man.

Why can't u understand . My father came to this country when he was 17 and spoke no english. It was extremly hard for him and his 4 brothers and sister to find work. My mothers sider of the family have been here and my great great grandpa built some of the citys in new york city barely making a living so that my grandpa and my nonna could come to this country . I grew up in a family that spoke italian in the house . I learned that and not english. I went to school and had a hard time learning english. Even though i learned it and spoke it well I still had an acent that the kids would make fun of . That is what i Posted. I was made fun of because of that even though highschool and was supsended many times for beating the people up that teased me .


I have every right to be upset about that joke . There is no trouble for dave and joe they know I wouldn't cause them any trouble if i could help it . I just posted my dislike for the joke .

The one with the guy in hotel, who wanted 'fok on the table' and 'shit on the bed' (fok=fork, shit=sheet).

I find that joke funny, can't see the offensiveness in it.
But I'm not Italian, so...

But being gay, and there being many, even harsh jokes on gay people and gay stereotypes, I still find almost all of those jokes at least somewhat funny. Can't think of any gay joke that'd have offended me.

Though, often it can be the person who tells the joke, and the tone in what it is told that makes even the kindest joke offensive.

I had to take special classes to learn to speak English. Of course this is during grade prep.

My mum still doesn't know English well and she has been in Australia over a decade maybe 2 decades.

My mum has witnessed a war (Serb and Croats) and my mum's dad had witnessed his father being killed by an explosive, I was told his legs were torn apart in the explosion.

There were even more worse things that occured during that time to my mum's family.

All I'm saying is that I fail to see how people making fun of what had happened is offensive. I can't find it offensive if someone makes a joke about someone having their legs torn apart in an explosion.

Why is it that I fail to understand why you find that joke offensive?
I understand your family has gone through hardships but that automatically doesn't mean I understand why you find that joke offensive.

Of course I don't bloody understand. If I did then why am I wasting my time now?

I'm Italian...and I don't recall ever hearing an Italian joke that I got offended by. They're either funny, or stupid....like most other jokes.

Most of the time, people take themselves too seriously. I, for example, don't sympathize with the "Italian American Movement" that shuns the "Sopranos" because of the "negative portrayal" of Itialian Americans...

In the politically correct world we now live in one thing I've found a wee-bit curious is that it's apparently "ok" to make fun of certain ethnicities and not others. At least here in the States. My sense of humor tends to pander toward making outrageous statements that play against perceived stereotypes. One example is that I was slapping a new optical white MS mouse onto my work computer and a co-worker pointed out (a female) that the mouse didn't match my black monitor or black keyboard. I said I didn't care because since it's white it'll work twice as hard. My co-worker's eyes became the size of half-dollars for a few seconds in disbelief at my statement, which was uttered with a very jovial tone. Regardless, I should not have said that because it certainly could've been taken the wrong way, even though my co-workers know I almost always defend minorities, sexual or ethnic, during our conversations.

I sometimes have a very difficult time working on a military base and hearing the appalling level of homophobia that goes on. And it seems even worse lately because so many Christian fundamentalists have signed up post 9/11. I love hearing how "God led me to the Air Force", etc., and I often asked them if the weren't in control of their own hand when signing the paperwork to join. I guess my point is that even as a married, straight white man homophobic-based conversations really offend me, which obviously puts me in a minority of my own, but I digress.

Anyways, as moderator I don't mind jokes being posted but if someone writes that it offended them please just drop it right there.
