high-precision 10-bit per channel frame buffer format in DX9

Not surprising as digital camera manufacturers have been doing similar things for a while in their sensors.

Yep - I thought that was the case. I've got a FujiPix camera and I seem to remember reading some sort of blurb about sensing different colours when I bought it about a year ago.

You saying the R300 uses it already in every D3D game?

The game needs to be coded for it.

As for the r300, I recall there being an issue with this format and I think it was related to the dx9 runtime, not sure if it's resolved.

So if the game is coded for it does the R300 output 10-bit per color or 8-bit per color to the monitor?

Since R300 does not support 10 bits display format in current driver, so the output will still be 8 bits.
