Hi Res MGS 4 screens: Doesnt look too good now

Helper so you don't have to load it up in your favourite image viewer -- pretty clear I think:

Can anyone put it in simpler terms on what it means for the jaggies to be more than a pixle wide please?
 
The first pictures from the PS3 game Project Force were blown up too. Jaggies looked worse than this.

But then it looks stunning in motion.
 
i took one 1080p and resized it to 720p.... it looks fantastic now.
The funny thing is, if you zoom this 720p picture, it has the same jaggies you see in the 1080p picture.
I might be wrong, but it feels blown up from 720p... weird aliasing going on in those

aliasing feels way more natural now.... not so exagerated

Well the textures look bad probably because they are being scaled. The way Otacons 5 o'clock shadow there looks there are weird bumps...but scaled down (to the original size) it looks like an actual beard (like a shadow). This just raizes the fact that these pictures could be scaled to a higher res.

This picture actually proves its from a cutscene, gameplay would not show draw distance limited to the face unlike cutscenes

Could it possibly be a 4:3 image rescaled into a 16:9 image?

Though you think there would be more distortion for that to be true. :???:

No one is stating it isn't coming from a cutscene. With that said...it probably IS from a cutscene...but like I said before..this is MGS, it dosn't matter if its a cutscene or not since you get this level of visuals in cutscenes or gameplay. Also, It really seems like the pictures where scaled up from a lower resolutions.

Yeah, I don't think the next generation consoles can do depth-of-field effects ;)
But you're probably right, though I'd say so because of the camera angle and situation, not the graphics.

im just slightly disappointed these are underwhelming compared to the scans of Famitsu
