I'm sure this is the wrong board for this kind of thing, but seen how all HDDVD and Bluray threads end up here for one reason or another, i'll just post it here...

Interesting to note that the earliest HD-DVD release date is 28th March while none of the Bluray titles have a release date.

Edit: Just for the record, I'm not trying to start a Bluray Vs HD-DVD fight.

I'm still a bit lost as to whether Blu-ray and HD-DVD movies will be 1080p, or will some be 720p and only some (Special 1080p Editions?) 1080p?
I saw from CES reports, that not all Blu-ray (and HD-DVD) players take in 1080p, but limit to 720p and 1080i, only the more expensive ones supporting the full resolution.

This also makes me doubt whether the PS3 will be a full 1080p for Blu-ray movies, it would make more sense if it were limited to 720p so it'd leave more room in market for standalone 1080p players by Sony and other mf's.

Found some interesting interview about HD-DVD and Blu-ray

Says all content, both HD-DVD and Blu-ray, will be in 1080p/24 but the first generation HD-DVD players will only be 720p (because on non standardized HDMI that supports the 1080p), with Blu-ray it's more or less the same, although it seems that the BR players will skip straight to 2nd gen and support 1080p from the launch.
