Have you guys watched the Halo OSDT marketing video?

Don't be a sucker Kevin.

Btw, they ran the full thing during Band of Brothers last night on Spike tv. It looked very nice on the 56".

Someone known who made the music? It's really well choose for this marketing video. Like all the musics for MS blockbusters videos (Halo, Gears). It's the same people who managed these ads?

A very good work, some french's grousers found it to "Hollywood" but in the same time they're the firsts to go watch all the Hollywood blockbusters… (another French Paradox… We're the Creator of the Paradox! ;) )

I agree with Shifty it's a bit cheesy. The visual effects are fantastic though.

The Hungarian doesn't cut it for me either, I still don't understand why they couldn't overdub with Russian voices, if they couldn't do that they should have just left it in english.
As it is the choice of language is sure to confuse viewers, especially as unlike COD the only language ever encountered in the Halo series is English. (furthermore all the writing on all the props in the video eg. uniforms etc is in english, which makes it seem that the whole other language thing is a little half assed)

I dont know about the rest...but when i was younger...i wanted my games to come to life...to interact with reality and my older relatives to be able to relate to them...i think this video kinda make a young gamer dream come true...or at least to stir up some hopes and hype...of course the trailer is not all flash .. it did good in passing the message about the struggles of an OSDT warrior...makes the uninterested Halo crowd to take notice of the Halo world outside MC....a rallying call or a reminder to the 10m Halo fans...all done sub-consciously...my 2cents of overanalysis...

I still can't say I understand the funeral stuff. :p The one in the beginning is different from the one at the end right? Is the first one related to the kid they keep focusing on? And then he joins the ODST :?:

I thought it was quite clear:
- father/brother dies in war
- so 'Tarkov' joins the ODST too, makes it through the training
- he barely survives the first battle but gets hardened by it
- eventually becomes squad leader, keeps burying his men but goes on nevertheless

But I consider this story secondary to what the trailer tries to communicate. ODST are very different then the Master Chief; they grieve, they suffer, they know fear, and they're far more vulnerable - and yet they still keep on fighting.

So he's the one who was shooting at the Brute? I didn't quite catch the part where he becomes squad leader though, but thanks. :)
I'm just picking it apart after the initial... "shock"? ;D

I agree. Loss, perseverence... :(

Basically the whole video was him basically remembering his past experience while he's burying one of his squad mates.

And then they lock down the helmets and proceed to the next battle...

SB

:D Well right now I'm trying to imagine just what sort of marketing campaign they'll do for Reach, considering the story events taking place :!:

Reach would be an ideal time to restart the movie project. I guess a 2010 november release is the most likely... but it might take a bit longer...

True. Compare this ODST commercial with the Halo 3 one where the Master Chief gets shelled by a Wraith then runs full speed and jumps into the middle of a pack of Brutes all by himself, ready to put boot to ass.

Although it's still a Halo game, I think ODST will have a very different feel.

Was not the original script's concept opening with the events of Reach?

I say MS does whatevery they can to get Jackson/Niel back on board and go all out. Screw the studios!

If Microsoft want Halo to be "Star Wars of this generation", they definitely need to be more active on the movie front, even self-financing it would be a justified risk IMO. Right now over billion people easily are aware what Star Wars is, while Halo is known to maybe tens of millions of people. Completely different scale. If the movie was going to cover the events of Fall of Reach, it would have to have Empire Strikes Back ending though, which I'm not sure would work for the first movie though.

Actually, I expect that the final scene of Halo: Reach to be the opening scene of Halo: Combat Evolved.
