Halo: Reach

Typically, I am absolutely not a fan of vehicle section in my FPS games - often, I hate them and I am happy that they are over...but the space fighting stuff in this IGN vid looks ultimate fun, I wonder how much of the overall gameplay time you spend in space?

They were talking about a single mission (and no multiplayer...).

It seems the first part is protecting the human space station, then the trailer suggests a direct attack on some Covenant ships; I guess it'll end with either a crash landing or simply ejecting and flying into one of the cruisers. Then the game moves on to normal FPS combat within the enemy ship, or maybe there'll be some zero-G combat as well, like in Halo 2.

It would be cool when you as a Spartan eject from the space ship...and you get to play the free diving landing/crash scene...would be cool!

I like the characters, and I think that planet Reach in the SP campaign looks significantly different and more brooding then either the Halos or Earth. Small but effective changes, can't really list them... It feels like the average temperature is significantly colder, the sun's less yellow and dimmer...

Oh, I agree that the environment art and landscapes are much better than Halo 3 and reminscent of CE, it's just that the gameplay and the way the enemies move and behave don't really seem all that different to H3, it's still colorful and exaggerated.

I was hoping for something more inline with the brooding VGA trailer

Watch the VGA trailer and watch the gameplay demo, the color palettes are very identical.

This is really looking great. It's a shame it's Bungie's last Halo game. I have doubts anyone else (such as 343) can do Halo like Bungie can.

I think I'm going to get drunk after I finish Reach (maybe even before), just to pay homage. Who's with me!

I want Bungie to do at least one more Master Chief and Cortana story arc. Reach is looking great, but I want to know where MC/Cortana go from the end of Halo 3.

Maybe, they will wait for Next Gen to give me my fix.

That's very likely what 343 is working on. I expect a new Halo game in 2012 from them. However, if a new console is launching in 2012, I wouldn't expect one until 2013. They certainly will not want to make it a lunch game but a year after is perfect to push adoption and there's a large enough exisiting base to sell to.

While I think the world of Bungie and what they've done with Halo, I'm very curious to see another studio take a crack at it. Esp one that has some high profile talent like 343.

I love Halo but im glad Bungie is taking a break from developing Halo games and do something different.I'd love to see them do a survival horror game or an open-world rpg like Fallout 3.

Why would you want that? Halo 3's story was as bad as video games stories get, extension of that screams for a disaster. ;) For now, bring on Reach!

I guess to each its own, but I enjoyed the Halo 3 storyline. I find it better than any other FPS that I played, although I never finished the Half-Life games due to motion sickness.

I will enjoy Reach as well, but I will miss the subtle connection that I felt between MC/Cortana.

I guess he deserves a rest after battling the Covenant as I get the sense, that he is weary of war at the end of Halo 3. Cortana also displays a deep sadness when MC goes into the sleep chamber...maybe because of the lack of interaction with him in hyper sleep.

In 10 years. :) Start the countdown. Bungie has said it would like to revist Halo at some point in the future.

Maybe less time if they get the itch and decide to field two dev teams.

SB
