Gunstar Heroes Goes GBA
Exclusive screens and details on Sega and Treasure's next big GBA title.
by Craig Harris
May 6, 2005 - Sega of America has officially announced the long-awaited follow-up to the company's popular Sega Genesis title Gunstar Heroes. Sega, along with the original development studio Treasure, have been working together on Gunstar Super Heroes, an original title and the official sequel set for release on the Game Boy Advance this fall.
Blue and Red, the two lead characters from Gunstar Heroes return for a second go-round in Gunstar Super Heroes. The duo will fight a seemingly endless onslaught of bad guys of an evil empire that's set to resurrect the God of Ruin. Both Red and Blue will have their own paths during this adventure, each character having his own set of challenges across six massive levels.
Gunstar Super Heroes is Treasure's latest GBA production since Sega's Astro Boy: Omega Factor, and Sega promises that the team will truly max out the graphical capabilities of the Game Boy Advance hardware. Treasure will pay homage to many of Sega's classic brands, with levels, graphics, and soundtracks based on After Burner, Thunder Blade, and Galaxy Force, and other Sega titles.
We've scored a batch of exclusive screenshots which you can check out by hitting the link below. The game will make its debut at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in just a week's time, and we'll have full hands-on impressions then.
