Gravity Rush 2 [PS4]

Been playing for about an hour and the game just feels right to play. Perfect frame pacing, very low input lag (closest thing that comes to mind is The Order), locked framerate, beautiful IQ, very nice moblur. The UI is lovely as well. In terms of controls it feels much better than the demo to me (the E3 one).

Edit: The taa is improved as well, it's probably the best use of taa in a Japanese game to date, it's a bit soft because they don't use sharpening on top of it (like Uncharted 4 and Doom do) but the IQ is super clean.

I played Gravity Rush 1 on a friends vita uptill the Raven boss fight and boy what a charming game ! I had played the demo earlier and just like the femo of GR2, it made no impact on me while the full game is a pure charmer ! Maybe i should just get the original on the ps4 and wait till this new one gets discounted. Although thr new one looks like its miles and miles ahead of the first game !

Is there no way to buy GR2 and get GR1 for free or something?

There's some neat online features in the game, they work very similar to how messages in Souls games do but it is connected to the in-game photo mode (which is fantastic by the way). Sadly it seems like their servers are taking a beating right now and the features don't work as intended (you rarely see any other players ghost to rate their picture). Other than that the game is extremely polished, the extra two months of development were probably only a good thing :)

If those quests are like GR1, then those mundane quests would be damn charming if you like to have a smile on your face. I haven't played the game, but I can see people who do not like that japan silliness to quests calling them mundane. I am just trying my best to save my money and not buy it untill it gets cheap cos whatever I see of the game just makes me want to buy it :D

While the game may not be extremely dense geometrically, whatever ao they are using along with varied use of pom give a sense of depth to the environments that is lacking in the original remastered version

It's a nice combination of technology + art direction and it's also nice that the game holds a perfectly steady framerate 99.9% of the time.

Finally reached Hekseville, they changed it more than i thought they would and it is actually absurd how big the game is considering everything put together  Made some comparisons with the remaster (which had new textures and some geometry tweaks already)

Edit: Totally unrelated but i had to switch from FFXV to GR2 back to back and while both are 30 fps GR2 looks and feels worlds apart (great moblur + good frame pacing).

Bah, just no other cheerful game out there as of now. llooks like my decision to wait for a sale is not going to hold and I am going to get this soon.

It's cheerful alright. Unfortunately it's also not particularly good methinks. Seeing the mission designers repeatedly fail to realize the potential of the game's exciting and liberating movement system is downright bizarre. They'd rather see you grounded and struggle with some truly shitty stealth gameplay, or have you search for people or little bits and pieces in the environments in an airborne game of "Where's Waldo".
I also think the environments are way too cluttered for the often times unruly camera and the deliberately loose movement system. Cannot remember the last game which caused me this many "what the fuck is going on?" or "where the fuck am I?"-moments due to disorientation.
GR2 is a mess. A charming one, but a mess all the same.

I wouldn't go that far but the side mission design is often questionable. The gameplay itself is much improved from the first game but they don't always let you use the powers Kat has, which is a shame. I'd say it's a good game overall but it's definitely not without its problems. I also really like the new powers but i think the game would be better if you got them early on rather than how it is now.

I think the first game had a much better flow. I also think the whole "isn't this just spectacular for a handheld" sentiment helped it a great deal. The gyro assisted aiming in particular feels a lot more natural on the Vita than it does with a DS4. At least the gravity sliding mechanic is a lot more manageable in GR2. That said, due to the way it's being utilized it feels just as needlessly tacked on as it did in the fist game. And yeah, it takes forever to unlock Kat's extra powers. I'm also wondering why they bothered to build this massive world in the first place. Huge chunks of it are barely being used at all.

Well, I liked what I played of GR1 on the vita. It was all pretty pointless but still felt good somehow. The videos seem to suggest the same for GR2 so am.not that worried.
As for the gravity slide, yea it was unmanageable for me and pointless. Why slide when u can fly over it ????
I could go for the first one from the psn store, it will cost less too, it's just that if this is pretty much the first game but bigger and with better gfx, then I felt why not go for this. I mean the gameplay might not hold that water to be enjoyed for two games! At least that's what it feel like from ur posts. That it's pretty simple gameplay wise but has its charming world.

Somehow I am still not feeling Horizon, and feel like going for either this or Nioh ! And they are ethe exact opposites!

I loved GR on the Vita. I actually platinumed the thing. I'm still having a hard time getting into the sequel. And while I have only played Nioh in beta form a year ago or so, it would definitely my pick if I had to choose between the two.

I think one of my biggest peeves with the sequel is that they added a bunch of stuff when they should have worked on fixing the basics first. Especially in some of the more confined areas, GR2 can feel downright broken. I take "tight" over "complex" any day.

Heart won over the brain. ordered this. With Ds3 still around on my ps4 and me planning to get DS1 on PC/PS3 (Still deciding as DS1 isthe only soulsborne I haven't played yet) Gravity Rush 2 will provide a nice change of pace and tone. Nioh is definitely on my playlist, just not now. :)

Well, it's certainly not a bad game. I'm having a good enough time with it. Just expected a little bit better.
Game picks up quite a bit once you arrive ein Hekseville in my opinion. Mission design got better, and it's just a much more interesting playground.
