Gran Turismo 4=best looking racer this generation!

Damage modeling of FOrza, combined with the 3d rendered wheels, and wicked touches like the way your calipers glow red and you seem them through teh spokes on your rims put Forza over the top for me. Also, the way every paint streak, or tiremark stayed on the track was pretty impressive.

no 7 year old console should have games that look like this

and im yet to see it in 1080i...

forza looks very good, but when i look down, i see the gpu inside the box.. same with PC
But ps2 gives me the "how the hell can she do it" feel.

gt4 is pr0n for me

i would put forza and GT4 on same levels visually, but forza has more details in the backgrounds, better ai, online, etc. it's more taxing on the xbox gpu ;)

forza looks better... make no mistake,
but i just cant stop thinking why gt4 looks so distint from any other ps2 game. its just that good (not some tracks/cars)

I saw Forza but personally it didnt impress me as much as I expected

Personally I was never that impressed with GT4, what I mean is that it was great for PS2 don't get me wrong about that but over for the last generation I wouldn't put it a the top of the pile. Xbox simply had the great visual racing titles, RC2 being on of them.

If "this gen" = what I'm playing right now, then PGR3 blows the doors off GT4's graphics.

See for me going from GT4 to PGR3, PGR3 just wasn't that impressive.

Maybe it was the framerate or the fact that it doesn't run 720p.

My Xbox360 post launch experience was very underwhelming due to PD0 and PGR3.

Now that I have Oblivion things are going swimmingly and my 360 gets booted-up everyday.

The phrase blowing doors off never comes to my mind when I think of the graphcial differences between the two games, more a case of 30fps racing games not for me.

You see, now that's where I disagree.

I consider graphics to be what is actually rendered on the screen, and blurry low res textures, low polygon models, and a major lack of offtrack detail just isn't better in my book just because it runs at 60 FPS, or even 600 FPS.

GT4 fell short of Forza in many ways in regards to graphics. Fact is, you can take screenshots of the same tracks in both games, compare them to pictures of the real tracks, and GT4 comes up lacking. It doesn't even come close to the level of detail found in PGR3.

And just to make my point...

GT4:

Forza:

And although I can't do the same track, let's check PGR3 just for comparison's sake...

You would have to either be blind or severly biased to say GT4 looks the best.

Hmmm, but...you may want to factor in Forza ran at half the speed of GT4 thus having more time to draw extra detail. One could only wonder what GT4 would look like at 30 fps.

I have to say GT4 looks way better than Forza. Better lighting, better sense of speed, better models and NOT through a vaseline lens... Forza just does not look realistic and seems much like a cartoon. The problem people have with PGR3 is that it has way too much shimmer ... and that was pretty much one of the biggest problems of GT4.

The thing I didn't like about GT4's visuals were that whenever you stopped for a moment to look at something, you notice the lack of detail. Also, how can you guys feel a difference between 60 fps and 30 fps, don't TVs only go at 30 fps?

TVs only go at 30 fps? Where did you hear that?
There are 60 different images per second on a television (NTSC).

Non-proscan TVs update 60 times per second but only half of the screen -- every other line -- at a time. The two screen halves interweave together, called interlacing. Proscan, or non-interlaced, displays update every line of the whole screen at a time.

Really? I don't know what the abbreviations for every region are, but what is it for North America?
