Seems like you get put in a level based on your current gamerscore and then if you complete the challenge you get a prize based on that level.

After registering, you will automatically be placed into one of three Rewards Levels based on your current gamerscore. Your level will determine the rewards you are eligible for during each Challenge. The more you play, the higher you can advance, and the bigger the pay-out.
  • Level 1 (0 – 4,999 annual Gamerscore): You are developing your skills and gaining experience. Take some time to get used to the program and learn your way around. The Challenges will typically be easier and the rewards smaller.
  • Level 2 (5,000 – 9,999 annual Gamerscore): We are going to turn up the heat a bit. You have proved that you know how to play and are willing to put in the gaming time to reap the benefits. The Challenges will get a bit more difficult. Never fear, the reward value goes up as well.
  • Level 3 (over 10,000 annual Gamerscore): This is an arena filled with the who's who of gaming. We don't want to claim that Level 3 is an exclusive club, but if you find yourself winning Challenges here, you've obviously pulled out the big guns, so enjoy while it lasts.

Nice to see all of you with the big gamerscores reaping some rewards. The challenge appears to be earning 1500 achievement points between Feb 12 and April 12.

Meh, my real gamerscore so far is 745. Yet by renting a few games with easy achievements and following Gamespot's guide (or others on the web) I could have thousands more easily.

So I'm really not sure what to think of this program. There's obviously no way I'd normally rack up 1500 gamer points in two months, yet I could as described.

And what would be the point of renting several games at $7 a pop at blockbuster to increase my score for the reward of a Contra game I could just buy for $5?

And as far as 1500 points in two months, well you could do it, but most games seem to have I dunno, about 400 easy points, and the rest are pretty hard. So it's really just a matter of buying several games in those 2 months, which of course is what they want..

There is no point really, this is only for people who enjoy playing the games they rent or buy. ;)

There's definitely a few games I was planning on catching up just now so this is perfect.

One month of a rental pass got me 5,000 gamerpoints and that was nearly a year ago.

AWESOME.
