Probably just exclusively using the fixed-function pipeline... which isn't so bad, considering the performance should be great that way. Well, maybe some Gekko intervention (like some lighting effects in Luigi's Mansion).

hmm, doesn't look like there's any per pixel lighting...
Was there any in the PC/Xbox version? Except for some extra effects (like swinging lights and such) I think the game used vertex lighting for almost everything else.

WHATEVER THEY USED, IT SURE LOOKS PRETTY...

The lighting looks okay... but what's with the textures? Blurry as heck, ugh! The PS2 almost has better textures.

You can say that textures are blurry based on 3 shots resized and jpg ?

Just to point out, I'm pretty sure these shots are from the PS2 version of the game. I'm pretty sure I've seen the 1st and 3rd shot released some time ago when the PS2 version was announced, and their resolution is 640x448 which is very common for PS2 games.

640x448 is actually also a common resolution for GC games.

yea, the textures should be no different, they said the GC version is a direct port of the Xbox version, though I am sure the lighting will be a tad less effective.

Qroach is right. I expected some loss in texture variety due to memory constraints but I was not prepared to see SC's visuals running neck and neck with Turok Evolution.

You do have to remember hat the cube has only about half the RAM (I've counted the A-ram for data streaming), textures on a hole look to be down sampled.

See the caged windows/door behind them? In the Xbox version there's an entire lit hallway behind there. Looks like they're being forced to cut down on the level size and complexity for the Cube version as well.

It's the little details that stand out the most ;)

uhm, it was said in the last interview that the GC version is an exact port, nothing was left out, Cory of IGN quoted one of the Developers in stating that the GC version is actually looking better than the Xbox version(which you can find in the chat logs if you like), the game still has 2 months to go in porting, thats quite a while.

I don't think we have to worry about "jpg" format affecting the "detail" of the textures when the aliasing in the image seems to have been preserved quite sharply. :p Also, the "resizing" doesn't seem as such at all- more like cropping (in which case there wouldn't be an effect on textures).
