I think a lot of public could get in yesterday from 14:00 or something like that. But yeah, the big public days are from Thursday to Sunday.
And yes, we're definitely getting more videos now. I did a lot of videos on the two times I went there myself as well. However, what you can get video of tends to be very limited on public days - anything that is 18+ (which is more in Germany than average) means you'll be queueing up for hours to even be able to get an eye on, let alone a hands on (though actually that tends to be the same).
I hated this so much that I didn't even go to the press day this year - even on press day, wait times for those closed cubicles are 30 minutes and up. Normally something like being able to see the PS4 live would have convinced me to go, but this time I just sent a letter of complaint to the organisation with a very constructive, polite version of 'change this shit or go fuck yourselves'. I realise that publishers like the 'control' but the public would be far better off if we just take 6 of the 8 large halls and make those 18+ areas, so that you can walk around and see games, and can decide to queue up for playing the game based on what you see (or not at all, if seeing the game in action is enough for you - as is often the case for me).
Thankfully, I'll just have the final hardware on the 29th of November, from the looks of things. Better just not think about it too much before that time.
GamesCom is huge though, biggest consumer event for games in the world now, with 279.000 visitors in total last year (around 60.000 per day).
