Princeton University isn't a good college ? NJIT is another big college , then you have TCNJ and Rutgars.
For things to due with visualization and computer engineering/science? Princeton is ok, NJIT/TCNJ aren't even on the list, and Rutgers is so-so. But Princeton tends to be a bit to academically focused as well. The other issue is they don't have any significant industrial linkages into the graphics areas.
Meh , I don't know why california , aside from the weather its a pretty shit place to live.
The only bad part of Cali is the cost but that's generally offset with higher salaries. Everything else about cali is pretty good. From outdoors, to the arts, to education, etc. There are the large numbers of tech companies (basically all the 3d companies either started in or have a significant presence in CA), there is all the cross pollination with the entertainment and advertising industries. For 3d you are talking about the state that basically put 3d on the map with places like Pixar, autodesk, SGI, Nvidia, etc.
I've lived and travels to pretty much every state in the US and there are very few places as nice to live as California with the variety of food, culture, weather. About the only places comparable are Seattle and Vancouver.
