Futuremark: 3DMark06

It looks like Wenesday.

(Thanks to Intratech at Elite Bastards for the tip)

Oh, and:

Longtime 3DMark users will recognize many of the tests from previous versions, but Futuremark has increased the complexity of each test to take advantage of the latest graphics hardware. 3DMark06 has an upgraded Canyon Flight test originally introduced in 3DMark05 and a brand new Deep Freeze test that make extensive use of Shader Model 3.0 and HDR rendering, two highly touted features available in the latest GPUs from Nvidia and ATI.

If there's no dynamic branching in the pixel shaders, then I'll just surmise that Futuremark copped out, once again.

That's highly unlikely given that there is a specific "SM3.0" test in the suite.

You know, I'm surprised that this slipped through out interview without a mention.

So this is basically just something they threw together with the next major 3dmark coming with D3D10?

Now that the dual cpu's are being put to good use with work being offloaded from the gpu it's nice to see cpu scores being once again counted ( although they do have an effect on GT1 and GT2 in 05 with high end mutli gpu systems ). Also of course with mutli cpu patches starting to appear for games this is very timely.

The Fx-60 seems to be an FX-57 + 3-500MHz in 05. ie 3000Mhz Fx-60 = say about 3400Mhz Fx-57 with the latest drivers.

I agree with digi, this could be a very good benchmark.

Aren't high end cards at 3DMk intro supposed to score around 5K? Or is that me just adding 2+2 to get 5?

nvidia will always be able to throw out "Quad SLI" scores for 3D Mark which had better be able to beat anything that ATI can throw at it. If not, nVidia is in trouble...

If they aren't selling that solution across the AIB's, then I'd find that an inappropriate thing to do. Right now it is Dell-only, isn't it?

Like they wouldn't do it just because it seems inappropriate
