Forza 5 [XO] *large pics inside*

I did the same analysis as last time on the gamersyde 1080p 60fps video on the Forza5.

The framerates seem a much more stable this time around than on E3 when I went through it frame by frame, granted there are still frames that I caught which were duplicate. Good job from the devs.

Loving the next gen lighting on all these new games ! :D The autovista mode seems like a good place to show off and enjoy graphics ! I am sure XBOne buyers would be showing that off to friends ! :)

New pictures. : D

And a new gameplay video, still hot off the press.

Looks freaking amazing!! Damn...next gen launch will cost me soooo much with all those must haves!

That is not news at all since Amazon (USA) has always had November 27th date listed for Xbox One ever since their pre-orders went live.
Darn, my hopes were dashed! My birthday is November 17th, so it's always halfway there in November, which means it is going to be my perfect birthday gift for November 2013.

Furthermore, I don't see the console releasing any time sooner here in Europe, but it's also highly unlikely it is going to launch here by the very end of the November. I expect a similar date compared to the Xbox 360 era.

It is going the second console I am going to buy at launch date, the first was the Xbox 360.

As for Forza 5, I am not in a hurry to play it but I want it so badly. Like in real life I can't drive at anything less than 50 Km/h in games.

What's more, when I am about to arrive in a city I just leave the car in the outskirts and get in a taxi so I don't have to drive within the city and go at snail-worthy speeds. Just jesting, of course...

New pictures. : D
...

the pictures look nice, although the footage to me looks 10 times better, the lighting is more natural/believable.

I noticed that the other cars don't have self-shadows, nor reflections. How much of a performance loss do those features entail? I know everybody is super happy with the 1080P 60fps -specs, but do those specs have any meaning if they are already taking shortcuts. Not to mention no dynamic lighting, which is what I have been anticipating since forza 3

I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt because it's a launch title and as Arwin would say we can still play Forza games every two years or so when they will hatch another game and then it should be time to be demanding when they create Forza 6 or so. There shouldn't be any excuses by then.

News:

A loyalty program called Forza Rewards has finally arrived and it lets you earn new cars and credit for playing.

It is available for Forza Horizon and Forza 4 and it will be available for the Xbox One at launch too.

You earn points in the shape of Forza Rewards which will accumulate into Tier levels. The higher that Tier level, the better the reward you can earn. Then every month you will be able to redeem your rewards for in-game credit, cars, tokens and other items and stuff.

This includes titles in the series that go as far back as Forza 2 for the Xbox 360.

Cool in the theory section...

http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/projects/drivatar/theory.aspx

The development of the Drivatar AI system is broken down into three main sub-tasks:
•Path, or racing line, specification for a car (which includes speed information too)
•Car control, or keeping the car on the specified path
•Racing strategy: overtaking, blocking, pitting etc

And the AI has to use a simulated driving controller (like a real player using a controller, I'm guessing an emulated steering wheel and not an emulated analog stick) in order to control the car.

Unfortunately the external resources links from that page don't appear to work anymore.

SB

I really dont like that they are shoving the low hanging sun and "perfect scenic lightning" down our throats [and burning our eyes].

Bathurst!! A dream come true. I asked for it two years ago in the Forza 4 thread and here it is. Thanks Turn10. :)

I really really hope they bring back Blue Mountains track from Forza 1, one of my favourite tracks ever made in the whole history of videogames. Huge draw distance, amazing landscapes, great kerbs... I miss that track, they should have carried it over...

Yes I race, and when the sun is low it really sucks and the track disappears. If I change my helmet shield I can avoid that! Forza should give us that option. ;). Please!

Is there a good video or screengrabs of the new track? Might look better in motion.

Btw, even next gen has low poly non-round tyres ;) ! Guess we need another gen for that :p .

Before some one takes offence, I am talking about the white tyres lying on thetrack in the screenshot.

The enphasis given to light-shafts on screens and videos of Forza 5 is almost pathetic. However fancy effect you are managing to pull off in real time, it is always a little un-ellegant to keep shoving it to people's faces like these in any case. The sun is not constantly setting or rising...
But these sun-only, post-effect shafts don't even qualify as fancy stuff. Almost every ps360 game has them by now, many early games of that gem had it, and even some ps2 games managed to pull it off before that, and the only reason Forza 4 didn't have them already was its 60fps, which a hardware jump should be more than enough to not only have these 2d screen-space godrays, but actual volumetric scattering if such phenomena is that important for the game's look and gameplay. If they though it is not so important to justify doing the real stuff, and went with the cheap 2d hack, then they are themselves proving my point: Lightshafts are not that omni-present, not that strong, and they aren't doing anything really that advanced to justify them being so terribly proud of it.
