Former Dimension3d.com Posters...?

Just curious how many people moved here after Dimension3d's forums went down - I recognize a few names (used to be Masta_EMS over there)

I am still around as well... as is Simon, Joe and I think even Tommy dropped in a couple of times.

I was a long-time lurker on Dimension3D.

(Shouldn't that be a topic on the Jerry Springer show?)

I seem to recognise a few of the names on B3D from there.

Was on Dim3D to see the wars of Rendition Verite 1000 vs VooDoo1, and the announcing of PCX1. I think it was with the same username, might have been "MrBasic".

Btw
AzBat == Tommy McClain

Wasn't B3D a kind of PoverVR fansite branch under the wings of Dim3D? Or am I mixing it up with some other site?

I seem to remember that Kristof had his own web site dedicated to PowerVR including various articles decribing how the technology worked. I heard about this through Dimension3D, I think. All so many years ago...

Back then I liked the concept of the deferred rendering of PowerVR against the brute-force approach of others (although I still bought a Voodoo 1). It was this which has led me to lose a fair bit of money on ImgTch shares!

Peep! ;)

IIRC, the first "PowerVR Dedicated" site with various articles was started up by a D3D regular who went by the name "Jezz". Jose Moura (I think he still lurks around here) also was a contributor or possibly co-founder of that site. The name of that site escapes me at the moment (3D Revolution?). I'm not sure if Kristof participated on that site, but it seems "his" PowerVR site is still around! ;)

'Twas sad to see its demise.

AFAIR, Sam Hatoum found PVR Generations. After that, Jeremy Kriegs (aka Jezz) and i joined the site.

Havent heard from Sam in a long time now. Jezz is now learning German, French and Swahili :eek: !

Take are everyone!

PS : Congratulations on your second child! :)

It was a great forum. I think it was the main reason for my high telephone bills at that time ;)

It's interesting to reflect upon the changes that people you know only through the forums have gone through, e.g. Kristof was a die-hard PVR fan and now works for them! Damn, now I feel old. :)

I'm gone for a day and look what happens. :D

Vaystrem(aka Mast_EMS):

Basic is right, I'm Tommy McClain. I used to own and run Dimension 3D. It's nice to hear from you and still remember my site. As you see, Joe and a lot of the other people that visited my site are still around. I'm glad that everybody found a home here.

Jim and Dave:

Man, haven't seen you guys in forever. Good to see you're lurking around here. Rendition... ahhh what memories! ;) Now, if I could just find Chris Dunphy...

Simon:

Thanks man, I'm touched :cry: Keep that torch burning. You never know what will happen. :) That is if I can ever get Joe to answer my emails and PMs. :devilish:

Jose:

Hey man! I was thinking about the PVR Generations crew the other day. Tried to find Jezz on the net, but no luck. Good to hear he's keeping busy. I miss Sam as well. If you talk to any of them, tell them I say Hi!

If anybody still wants to visit my site, I've found out that www.archive.org has archived it in their WayBackMachine. Until I get some money to pay off my server bill, Dimension 3D will be forever closed. :( The offer to park my domain name to Beyond3D is still open. What do you say Wavey? :D

Was that offer open? It must have been morning (pre caffine) when I read that!

Hell, yeah, that would be great. :D

:D The offer was to pay my server bill and I'll get my provider to park the domain at your site. If you're still interested I'll find out how much it is. I don't think it's more than $200US. ;)

Ahhh, yes, I knew there was something that scared me off! ;)

But, if you don't mind finding out I would be insterested dependant on cost. We've got to do some domain jiggery pokery with this server soon anyway (set up our own nameserver entires) so it probably would be best to wait until we've done that.
