Fluid Reality: So what is it?

From an ATI slide:

Fluid Reality
-Dynamic environments
-Engaging characters
-Natural motion and expression

Any thoughts on this? I am guessing this is NOT a feature, but more a description of what the chip's overall power can be used for. Kind of like the "Emotion Engine". Or is there some specific features to aid in these specific areas? Thoughts?

It basically means higher realism overall, not just graphics realism.

OK, if this is the case, how is the R500 helping improve overall realism outside of graphics :?:

That question is not directed at you necessarily, just in general. It just sounds like a "buzz" word to me. Basically the chip is powerful enough to allow complex and "living" environments because it has the power to push out a lot of objects that move and animate. e.g.

-Dynamic environments: i.e. powerful enough to do a lot of lighting and shadowing that makes games less static, the power to do geometry instancing to create massive forests, etc...

-Engaging characters; i.e. with powerful pixel shaders, high res textures, advanced lighting (like HDR for tone mapping), characters come to life. No more walking bricks, characters will become more life like.

-Natural motion and expression: With a ton of rendering power we can accept more data, like animation and physics, and smoothly animate them at solid framerates. Similary, with powerful vertex shaders you can now have characters with great facial animations. More bones and muscles than HL2, with higher order facial features to create smooth life like faces that animate and express emotion like real faces.

I could be wrong... maybe there are some special features for "fluid reality" but their bullets tend to make me think it is a description of how the power can be used and not features.

Could be wrong :)
