Final Fantasy XV [XO, PS4, PC]

Yeah, sticking with a weapon with a 50 attack rating all the way up to the light house (which is where I finally got the engine blade to +2. Maybe there's ways to get it earlier, but the necessary ingredient was a quest reward in that very same area) seems rather grueling to me when there's vendors selling you weapons with a 150 attack rating for as little as a couple hundred gil.

@London-boy

Too much hassle. I simply spend all my money to curatives and I battle using magic.

Heck, I completed the game only at level 37 I think.

Thus this video where ei became potion addict

Well. You're not a FF lover then! You are not worthy, Thor! You can't lift my magic hammer.
But what determines ones are an ff lover?

Each ff is different. Each ff is final. (except those direct sequels like 13).

Btw ffxv is muuuuuch better than 13 in all aspects other than the video quality. Heck, the shitty chapter 13 is still much better than the whole incomprehensible ff13

An FF lover is someone who gets to the end of the game at "lvl Stupid" and grossly overpowered ;) then again I do that on all RPGs I play.

Final Fantasy XV Update Roadmap

Short-term goals
First, we will update the experience of Chapter 13’s gameplay. For that reason, we are undertaking many enhancements such as increasing the power of the ring’s magic. We will inform you of the details of updated content at a later time.

Mid-term goals
Updating the production of the second half of the game, further enhancing the experience of the story. For example, we are planning to add event scenes where “What happened to Ravus?” was from. In addition to the event scenes, voice responses and localization work to all languages will occur so we will work firmly on this as a mid-term goal. Details of the plan will be announced once it’s decided.

Long-term goals
We will make it possible to use important characters that appeared in the main game as playable characters. We will also consider adding an avatar system to create original characters. In addition to this, we will continue to actively update so that various players can enjoy Final Fantasy XV for a long time.

Others
After clearing the game, you can carry your progress into a New Game. Finishing it at a low level, an invincible suit, we will offer various items that extend the range of play. Fonts displayed can be enlarged for easier reading.
For the already announced DLC, it is planned to be released as originally intended.

@I.S.T.
You do have the option to use many other weapons tho.

I just doesn't get the urgency to change my starting weapon.

@RenegadeRocks
It have lots of variety. But it doesn't force you at all.

So you can be a boring king like me, who use starting gear and almost no new skills.

Or you can be a dragon ball z evolution king with crazy battle acrobatics and various weapons
I'd have to disagree for the weapons. Not only the element infused weapons make your life so much better, but there are other very good weapons. Unless you upgrade the Engine Blade to Ultima (and that takes a long time, still haven't managed myself), then using that the whole game is a bit stupid. And on top of that, Noctis has all those royal arms to use which can be cool (personally I don't use them as they affect your HP).

Just like in Dark Souls (even though this is nothing like Dark Souls), combat variety mostly comes from fighting different configurations of enemies. And also just like in DS (and probably even more so like in Bloodborne), your starting gear isn't exactly trash and can remain rather viable. But like London-boy said, there are rather big differences between weapons. Sure, you can just stick with your engine blade, but it takes a long-ass time to even get it to +2, and you're gonna come across plenty of gear which completely outclasses it along the way.

WOw, that turned around quickly. Now I am super interested ! So, u get new weapons and abilities and moves but I am guessing no real armour?
FFXIII is the only real FF that I have played, so thats my only main reference. I did a play a few hours of FFXII and like it a lot.

You have a system of upgrades, and through that you can get new abilities (called Techniques) that are special team moves, so a bar fills up and you can do a lot of damage with one of the guys. You can select which one during fight, and each guy has three or four moves to choose from. So yeah, that's fun.
As for yourself Noctis, you really only have the attack button and warp move so not much variety - it really is just an extension of the existing FF model where 'attack' is just attack, but with the added level of difficulty and opportunity from how you move around in the fight (more damage from behind the enemy etc) then you can choose which magic to perform (and the magic system is AWESOME, very different from any other rpg I've played as you get to craft different spells by using objects from the game - i.e. mix an element with a potion and you can cast Healcast which damages your enemy and also heals you, just as an example).
Then there is a big choice of weapon types and weapons, with each enemy being weak or resistant to each type.
It's a very fun game.

There are some nuances like last second evasions to conserve mp or even get some mp back later on. There's also blindside attacks and counters (both of which can trigger team attacks), midair evasions and aireal downward strikes. You can also influence your combo chains by holding your analog stick in different directions. There's definitely complexity in there, but it's simply not meant to satiate your DmC cravings. Unfortunately it's just way too easy to spam yourself to victory via potions since there's no immediate knockouts for you or your party members. Like in Gears of War, your party members can rescue you from a danger state once your hp bar falls to zero. A danger state that comes with a generous amount of invulnerability or so it seams. And if you have the potions, you can easily do it yourself. You're also invulnerable while chugging them. You can see where that leads I think.

It's completely different to FFXIII. Now FFXIII has an amazing combat system. Unfortunately you're forced to play it for 60 hours with training wheels still attached.

Agreed. You're also completely invulnerable from the time you select a team technique until it ends.

I have to say that the biggest challenge by far in the game is not any of the enemies but the camera.

Yes, the game is indeed too easy in that respect. I heard somewhere they might introduce a New Game + mode in a future update, as in harder. Hopefully they make it a bit harder by removing immunity on techniques / item usage.

They will add New game plus, but other than enemies that are more levelled up, I don't see how they will change the way the battles themselves are relatively easy. Then again, in any RPG, if you're levelled up enough or have a lot of patience you can kill anything you want.

Depends on the RPGs. You can be as powerful as you want in FFXIII, but taking down the most dangerous creatures still requires a ton of strategy and a fair amount of dexterity. You actually have to pretty much forget about the "auto attack" button and select abilities through the menus. And you gotta do it fast. You cannot spam yourself to victory against the weapons in FFVII or the Dark Aeons in FFX either.
I really do think there should be a little bit of risk involved when healing up.

True. I beat the Level 52 boss in the mines of the first zone at level 35 just by spamming Ignis technique and elixirs.

And I spam potion for the last Boss battle

And I think I also spammed that video...

Anyway, ffxv does feel like and incomplete game.

Hopefully they can learn from bungie and made nice and expensive DLCs that reuse lots of cut or underused contents.

The world of ruin.
The altissia second island
Etc
