Final Fantasy XV [XO, PS4, PC]

btw

wondering if any of those will be put inside the game? Ubisoft did that with Child of Eden. they put user submitted photos into the game's epilogue battle.

Yeah, looks so inconsistent that I am not sure what to think about it: some scenes look like real and wow, others look like straight out of my PS3...

Mixed bag, the combat on videos is a complete disconnect from the photorealist style which completely sets me back out of the game...
Still uncanny valley, but env look awesome at times.

Image quality is a bit of a sticking point right now, but other than that I'm still very impressed. This is an open-world game with near-Uncharted level character models, best in class animations, and terrific lighting and materials. It's not quite as busy and/or dense as The Witcher 3, but as far as I'm concerned it beats in just about every other regard, and quite handily so.

Well, the demo I tried did not impress me, especially the 'PS3-esque' flat look of many surfaces.

Hope they improve everything for the final release!

i wonder, why they cant simply use SMAA? on PC, its performance penalty is almost none. Although with the inconsistent performance of FFXV... maybe they need to combine it with dynamic resolution to make the frame-rate consistent. or dynamic SMAA. Only enabled when 30 fps.

its like a mix of PS234 era assets...
its like somebody cut and paste objects using photoshop...

the image quiality consistency is NONE.

and it has been like this since years ago when i made an article about FFXV visual evolution. Basically the conclusion of the article was: inconsistent visual quality. inconsistent performance.

glad Kingdom Hearts 3 will use Unreal Engine. They can put their workload to make the experience consistent rather than fiddling around with the engine.

I can't stand that sharpening + pp. It's like those movies that overdo DNR but then FFXV goes the extra mile and overdoes sharpening on top of it. It just looks bad. To give an example, i think the IQ is comparable to the horrible LOTR theatrical release blu-rays that had excessive DNR applied to them, i just added some sharpening:

I hope they get it right before release.

Btw why ffxv seems to keep having problem with stones, rocky mountains...

- low res texture
- flat texture
- missing shadow
- flat shading
- looks repetitive
- the 3d model looks too flat

Can't they add tesselation (or whatever that is) like dice did with battlefront's rocks?
