Fight Night Round 2

Anyone else really itching for this game to come out? I've been wanting to buy a console for a while now, just to play Fight Night 2004. Now 2005 is comin' out, and I'm really wanting a console badly, for the first time in ages. And this time, Fight Night 2005 is available on Gamecube. Any word on how the Gamecube version will play relative to the Xbox? I'm sure graphics will be toned down a bit. It comes with Super Punchout (Punchout redone with modern boxers). Gamecube is also a lot cheaper, and I could kill two birds with one stone by getting one, cuz I'd also be able to play the Zelda games.

What to do?

cuz I'd also be able to play the Zelda games.
That's your answer already - buy the one with the games you want. Where multiplatform games are concerned, differences vary but shouldn't spoil the experience too much.

Get a GameCube. It's cheap and has a great software catalogue.

Get a Wavebird too. ;)

It's a Nintendo made wireless controller for Gamecube that's really quite good in marked contrast to previous wireless controllers (RF signal instead of IR). Runs about $29.99.

Cool. Once I see a full-on review of Fight Night Round 2 for GC, I'm gonna start looking for a used unit .... actually, I bet I'll end up buying one by the end of the week ;)

I'm also really interested in Fight Night Round 2 for GC. I loved Rocky and since then I've wanted another excellent Boxing game. Looks like this might be it.

Scott_Arm, once you have the GC buy Resident Evil 4.. don't even think just buy it! :)

Yah, it's basically gonna be Zelda, Metroid Prime, RE4 and FIght Night Round 2, right off the bat.

Fight Night 2004 is the best fighting game I've ever played, as well as the best boxing sim I've ever played. I'm really looking forward to round2.

the only thing i'm worried about on the gamecube is the controller. the octigon shaped holes for the analogue sticks will make the hooking motion a bit awkward compared to the smooth action of the other two consoles. it won't stop me from picking up the cube version, though. free super punch out is better than no free super punch out.

I just saw that GameInformer gave Fight Night Round 2 (GC version) 92.5%. There was no review in their for the PS2 and XBox versions though so I can't compare the versions.

Incidentally their game of the month was RE4 (100%) :)

Here's a quick quote from the RE4 review (don't have any quotes from the Fight Night review, sorry):

"There is no flaws in RE4. It is the greatest horror game to date. I never thought that a game, or movie for that matter, could deliever pulse-pounding action in such an awe-inspiring way."

"Some games are simply destined to become milestones in gaming history, and Resident Evil 4 is one of them."

Direct comparison between the different platform versions of Fight Night Round 2. Sounds like the graphics are not as different as I thought they'd be. From the way it's described, Gamecube comes in last for lack of online(which I don't care about on console) and having the least suited controller. But, from this other preview ( http://cube.ign.com/articles/586/586258p1.html ), it sounds like the Gamecube version still kicks ass. And I imagine you could get a controller with a slightly different feel.
