FIFA World Cup 2010

Great Match !
Japan played REALLY well even more so considering they were up against the best European side as of now ,infact had it not been for the Goalkeeping error (or was it the stupid ball ?) the match would've ended a draw. Some fine football in this match. I hope Japan make it to the 2nd round beating Denmark & Netherlands beating Cameroon...lol Anyways.... Ga oranje !!!

One thing's for sure though...the Ball IS CRAP !
No two ways about it.

And btw I so want to put this here

Just came back from the pub watching The Netherlands vs Japan. Obviously we won but it was a bloody awfull match I think. Now ofcourse most of the match the Japanese had 11 players on their side of the field so that doesn't actually make things much easier but still we didn't play particulairy well either.

Funny thing was though that I watched the match with a whole bunch of Japanese girls. Given how they usually are I didn't expect them to make much noise but when they played the national anthem they were actually singing much louder than when the Dutch anthem played even though there were only about 10 of them. Also with every little thing Japan did, lots of cheering. When the Dutch people who didn't knew them started cheering everytime a Japanese player went down it became really fun lol. It became some kind of local Japan vs Holland :D

Obviously they returned home with their big black sad puppy eyes.

I don't know if you've ever played sports competitively, but you never leave it in the hands of the referee/umpire. Bad calls happen all the time. If we played any defense at all in the first half, the referee's call wouldn't have mattered.

I'm not at all defending the officiating, but the US has a habit of playing shitty in the first half.

I have played sports competitively and the only case where you can have the luxury of not leaving it in the hands of the refs is when you completely outclass your competition.

And yes, if we scored a thousand goals in the first half, nothing else would of mattered. I don't watch or play sports to beat up on teams that are completely outclassed.

I'm all willing to accept judgment calls or mistakes with things that are judgment calls in refing, but there is a difference between a mistake on a close call and a just flat out bad call.

No one has been able to come up with an explanation for the call, the ref has been roundly criticized around the world for calling perhaps one of the worse refereed games in a long long time. It was just a monumentally bad job by the ref. At minimum, FIFA needs to go to the eurocup system have backline refs for the penalty area. Honestly, I think all sports need to look into replay. Its like the 1800s anymore.

Friday night saw the most inept England performance that I've ever seen. The players should be ashamed of themselves.

God only knows what that bunch of jokers will do in the must-win game against Slovenia on Wednesday. I'll be watching it at Glastonbury so hope it doesn't put a dampener on the subsequent festival!

I missed the England match, sounds like I was lucky. I won't bother watching a repeat.

I see the great English football-watching public is already pointing the finger at Capello, missing the point as usual. You'd think that after so many examples of disappointing failure under a string of managers, some woeful and some world-class, that maybe it's not the manager that's the real problem.

Over-rated players, over-hyped by a rabid British press, and the weird attitude that somehow we have the right to win the World Cup, because it's our turn, or because we invented football, or whatever. Forgetting that at the international level we're perennial under-achievers because our players are mediocre and have a major attitude problem.

I haven't really got into this World Cup, 'coz I knew what was coming, I've seen it all before. The players can't be bothered - they never have been. So neither can I.

Wow, Italy draws with New Zealand. I have no vested interest in that match, but I found myself rooting for NZ to somehow pull off a major upset and win it.

Go New Zealand! And WTF is going on with France? I heard some coaches quit!?!

The French team has totally fallen apart and Domenech has lost any semblence of control.

The team director, Jean-Louis Valentin, has quit in disgust. The players refused to train for a day. The French Football Federation has condemned the team...

It's a royal mess...

Brasil - Ivory Coast was a great match with some glorious goals. Too bad one of Brasil's goals were a double hands in the buildup to the goal and Kaká's stupid behaviour. Drogba's goal was a style study in timing, the pass was perfect and Drogba's run was timed perfectly.

New Zealand 1: Italy 1!!!! YES!!!

So can anyone tell me if we can progress to the next round if we beat the paraplegic homosexuals, aka Paragay! :D

Anyone can still make it out of Group F. But if NZ beats Paraguay then they will make it in no matter what the other teams do. They could still make it in with a tie IF Italy ties their game and NZ scores more than Italy does.

Are you being sarcastic? The Kaka sending off was one of the most ridiculous decisions I've ever seen.

Both yellow cards were justified. Kaká elbowed Keita in the chest and that was it.

Bullocks! Watch the replay again and you can see that both Keita and Kaka were watching the ball. When Keita comes into Kaka's peripheral vision, Kaka instinctively raises his arms to protect himself from an impending clash. His elbow hits Keita in the chest yet Keita falls down after 1) realising that he has ran into Kaka and 2) as if he was hit in the face which he was not. Keita is a cheating scumbag and should've got a yellow for that.

Oh, Keita should have had a yellow card for that, but Kaká does him with the elbow. The replay clearly shows it.
