You can always just cast invisible on yourself and blow through the gates, collecting the Sigil stones.

The stones are random too, so you can save just before you grab it, and if you don't get one you like, just reload and try again.

I don't think I had got my hands on invisible yet, just chameleon.

Ahh, well thing is, you want to be over lvl 25 in order to get the most powerful sigil stones, they have the best enchantments by far.

So, that might give you plenty of time to work on your illusion skills

chameleon is better.

Get 3x 35% cameleon items (or make em yourself) and your immortal

That's almost what I did. I don't cast invisible, but with >110 in speed and light armour you just run it and get it.

Each gate takes 2 minutes to close.

Good plan. The gates are the most boring part of the game.
