eyeVio - Sony's YouTube?

Saw this and wanted to share it with you.
Seems like it might include some features for the PSP and the PS3, looking at the official website ( http://eyevio.jp/square/about/ ) Would be nice if someone could translate.

"This is part of Sony's quiet software revolution," CEO Howard Stringer said at a news conference.

"It's an opportunity to transmit user-generated video anywhere you want to, anytime to anybody, in a protected environment," Stringer said.

Made specifically for PS3 and PSP cameras maybe?

Perhaps you can only upload stuff you made with these devices? That'd be pretty cool in a way. Hopefully make people get creative with their consoles. :)

I don't see much point in it TBH if you can upload any video. We already have many Youtube-like services already and don't need any more of them.

Besides Sony is paranoid about copyright infringement so I am pretty suyre they'll only allow original stuff made with PSP/PS3.

Peace.

How about filming copyrighted material such as a dvd movie, filmed with the ps3 camera. (and posting it there)

I know it would be horrible quality wise but just as a protest of a kind...

No it supports Walkman, iPod, and PSP.
I meant as recording devices obviously not for playback.

There's no ipods with a built-in camera afaik.
But if they accept videos from everywhichwhere it's obvious they don't want a playstation specific site which I actually kind of regret. They would do better to focus specifically on their own devices I think..

They could do community events and run competitions and have some nice prizes for those who did nice PS3/PSP videos etc.

Peace.

Well Sony already owns Grouper as well...

..and the PS Eye is to have its own community back-end for sharing photos/videos etc. via the EyeCreate software. Seems like a fair bit of duplication, at least on certain levels. Even if they want seperate communities, they could perhaps look into making them interoperable or have them share tech.
