Euro 2004 Portugal

It was a big mistake to take Robbe out. Holland is no defensive team, they must score!! And they got punished.
I fell in love with Nedved i think, he's a genius, not only because of that shot.

Few games later ... Czech - Holland 3:2! One of the best games i saw in the last years! Just excellent.
Yep, a brilliant display by two teams who were allowed to play their natural, attacking game. It made for a brilliant spectacle and is definitely the footballing highlight of the tournament. I've always fancied the Czechs (since I was them play in England last tournament) but I hope Holland also manage to qualify for the next round.

Czech vs. Holland was a fantastic game indeed. Perfect advertising for the sport! I dare not predict who will make it in this group besides the Czechs though, even Latvia might surprise if their defence can hold another time.

I'm happy for Greece! They made it to the quarter finals, who would've thought? Sorry to see Spain go home (Germans will join you soon I guess), but its better for the atmosphere of the who tournament if the host remains in the race. Portugal also improved their play a lot compared to the opening match, they were a deserved winner today.

Czec vs Holland was the best game of tournament so far, never was there a dull moment in it, attacking football at its best. Czec was looking like Brazil.

Was 2nd Dutch goal valid (offside)?

I'm not sure. My amateur opinion is that is was offside, but either the referees didn't see it or don't agree with my interpretation of the rules. ;)

Yes it was offside for sure. First it was passive, but it became active when he scored. And it's not like he was only a few centimeters offside, more like 10 meters ;)

wooooot ! 4 goals !!! FOUR !!!!

roooooooooney !!!!

and even likkle scholesy managed to break his 30game duck !!!

fan-tastic iiiingerrrland :)

you've always gotta be confident :)

[ hmm i'd worry more about the portuguese to be honest :-/]

Friendlys don't mean anything, especially from 40 years ago ;) Czechs, i'm afraid, will be unstoppable, for England at least.

I gotta say respect to both teams though that they kept fighting, even though the game was already over after the 3:1.

Rooney = Player of the tournament

I hope he gets the golden boot :) That said, we've scored in every game without him, so if we did loose him (heaven forbid) then we'd still have a chance. Especially if owen and beckham get back in form.

Oh boy, what a match. My throat is still sore from all that shouting :D

Looking at our defence I don't think we should be trying to beat any team 1-0. But last nights match showed that we can score goals from open play against good opposition, which is something we've been failing to do consistently over the past few years.

Going by that performance England are capable of beating any in the Championship, and are capable of losing to any team in the Championship. All bets are off now!

(I was sat between two Man U fans, who had their heads in their hands at the end of the game, knowing that Rooney's price ticket had increased by another £10 million. Unlucky lads!).

Depends which Portugal turns up, and which England. Portugal will have the advantage of the home crowd, but they are a very inconsistent team.

Anything can happen.
