Well, by the time the E3 Doom demo came about I personally wouldn't say it was spoiling GF4's release since it had been released and available quite a few months before then. I'd also say at least ATi were choosing something that would have relevance to gamers in the near future and they did so with actual hardware. So, marketing? Of course, but at least it was done with real hardware.

You know, I am sick of this "threats to leave" BS from some members who should be a little more mature?
I mean, just ignore it, hello?
I for one find all of the "if YOU guys dont change to suit me, i am gone!" type posts to be extraordinarily ego-centric, selfish and pathetic.
I like you for the most part, Ben, and i enjoy your information, but until you can learn to ignore the unsavory elements, you will forever be driven from places you like. You need to sit back, and say "These fucktards dont matter".
If you cant do that, well, bye. Its not our fault you are leaving, its yours.
So dont try any more of your "pin it on the other members" speeches pelase.

I guess Nvidia gave you that informaiton to leak to us? It must be this Nvidia marketing ploy. Look, you don't know when it's going to launch, so just shut up about it please.

It seems to me that it could all be a fake and misrepresentation or misunderstanding.

It seems to me that it is likely that these images are released to counter the press the R300 is receiving, or atleast maintain awareness of the NV30 in the face of it.

    But...

It also seems to me that any DX 9 card is perfectly capable of rendering any image like those using its own shader instructions. It seems to me that both ATi and nVidia have developed tools capable of taking any type of shader instructions used in Maya for rendering these images previously and having the card render them now (very quickly).

    Therefore...

It seems to me the only requisite to believe these are NOT a fake or misrepresentation is to believe that nVidia has a functioning NV30 card somewhere.

Which, actually...isn't hard to believe at all given their announced release dates...I mean, we've had running Hammers demonstrated already this year.

So even though they might be a fake, it seems to me ridiculous to assume they have to be at this point, though it does not seem unreasonable to ask for more information (which, unless I'm mistaken, is what is being done in any case).

    Finally...

It seems to me there is no point in quesitoning ben's integrity or accusing him of being a liar for sharing these images, in any circumstance.

The car demo is really sweet. I was also impressed by the Ani Music demo. Last year, the same Ani Music demo was presented at Siggraph, but it was prerendered. This year it was done real time on the R300 :) It's a fun demo.

I never saw the LotR demo... guess I'll have to pull some strings and see how that one looks.

Well the problem for me is... first these supposed demos pre-exsisted the Nv30 for a while now..and can be seen here
    http://www.exluna.com/products/gallery.html

They clearly were not done on Nv30.

The bigger issue for me is that Had ATi done this,, the sky would have already fallen at Sites like HardOCP etc...

Thanks for pics, Ben. Unfortunate that this thread had to turn into yet another ATi vs. Nvidia pissing match.
