DX9 might not come out this year

Just a little official update on the state of DX9. Philip Taylor just wrote this on <DIRECTXDEV@DISCUSS.MICROSOFT.COM> in regard to the talk about a mid-November release:

in terms of schedules, be careful. before the end of the year is the current schedule estimate, but as always thats an estimate. do not treat it as anything else.

Well, beta 3 was two weeks late, so nothing really new about it. Maybe they really should have just released DX 9 with VS/PS 2.0 this fall and made a DX 9.1 with VS/PS 3.0 in the Spring?
