*edit: I just found out (read over at our forums) that if you are using the latest leaked SP2 for WinXP, the file is "mfc42.dll: 6.02.4131.0000 Final retail 10/07/04". So it seems that it will be "final" when SP2 is released.

As far as I know it is final, but the mfc42.dll file seems to be beta until the SP2 for WinXP. If this DX9.0c release wouldn't have been official & final, I think MS would have pointed it out on their download page..

Its official (just got the mail from MS).

This has HLSL compiler for SM2.0B and SM3.0 (X800 and NV40 respectively). This is the biggy, the HLSL compiler now understand loops, vertex texturing etc.

Support for GFFX float textures (cap bit for limitations they have).

Support for NV40 geometry instancing.

New effects file improvements.

PPS has been working on the PRT.

Some neat samples, the PRT mask is really nice.
