DirectX Tweaker Public Beta 1

You can't combine them, sadly.

Hardware limitation. Maybe FarCry supports MSAA with HDR but without hardware that can do it we will not know.

If I want I can add an FP16 Rendertarget support to the SSAA plugin but the fear of FPS in the one digit range have stoped me so far.

I wonder if Crytek's The Project demo is more forgiving?... Though that required editing a settings file to activate HDR.

I wonder if SC:CT is also coded to make HDR and AA mutually exclusive...

It appears that the hardware I'm using can't multi-sample float buffers, so anything using a FP backbuffer or FP rendertargets can't utilise MSAA. ATI's upcoming hardware will be more interesting to test, in this respect, apparently.

Hmm, I'm surprised. I wonder if NVidia has bet that ATI wouldn't combine HDR and AA first time around.

G80 beckons, eh?...

If R520 only supports FP10 and AA, I suspect NVidia will breathe a sigh of relief, expecting developers to ignore it.

Is FP10 destined to be part of WGF2? I'm wondering if XB360 usage of FP10 will start to have an impact on PC games within the next 18 months.

R5x0 should support MSAAd FP16 RTs. G70 doesn't. G80 is too far away to talk about it now.

However, looking at performance of some chip in Far Cry with HDR enabled i do wonder if this MSAAd RTs on R520 will be of any use -- imho, performance levels without MSAA are close to unacceptable and that's for a game released more than a year ago and without FP16 textures...

Well, that's strange... It turns out that .NET wasn't installed on my machine at all... Maybe some program deinstalled it with itself? Anyway, reinstalled 2.0 beta 2 and DXTweaker works fine :)

That's the D3DX library. It used to be a static library, but it's a dll since the December release of the SDK. Every new SDK release has a new version of this file. This particular file belongs to the June SDK.

No. It's just a utility library and an official part of the SDK. Though it would of course be possible to hack this file as well and for instance override the HLSL compiler and alter the way the application behaves that way. But if you have the official file there's nothing to be afraid of.

This is for Serious Sam 2 Demo BTW :)

Hi,

I tried out your program on my Dell M70 (NVIDIA Quadro 1400 graphics). However, as soon as I start BF2, it quits and exits to desktop, regardless of the command line arguments.

I installed the DX9 patch, as well as the .net framework.

Please help!

Thanks
