DirectX Tweaker Public Beta 1

Thanks!

Something else. Is it possible to add an option to enable/disable used texture formats requested by application. For instance, I want to disable all FP textures or extended 16-bit per component INT tex... something like that. ;)

This is already in preparation. But it is not only a global On/Off switch for a format. The plugin allows to set single flags (like: can use as rendertarget, can use with texturefilter, ...) for each format.

But as usually you should not set flags that tell the app that your hardware can do more than it can do in reality. If you do this anything can happen.

- Create a new program profile (contextmenu)
- Select Steam.exe as path
- in the plugin list select "Present Changer"
- Set the "Back Buffer" "Count" value to 2.
- Activate the profile (checkbox at the right top)
- If Steam is running stop it
- Start the new profile with the config programm (contextmenu or doppelclick)

Hmmm, doesnt really seem to be doing anything.

I play cs source in 1280x1024, x4 AA + x8 AF @85hz

fps is still going down to 42.5 in water section of aztec, maybe i did something wrong?

Looks like Beta 3 isn't working with .NET 2.0 beta... :(

I know it works because I have .net 2.0 on my development system.

Can you tell me a little bit more about what happends?

I get this error when i try to launch DX Tweaker:

dxtw_error.png

When i click OK the message box dissapears and... well, nothing happens :)

Maybe i should reboot and check if this error still occures... Can it be somehow related to the latest Windows XP patches? I'm not sure if i changed anything in my system besides these and .NET 2.0 beta... And it worked before...

Eh? :) I don't know. IIRC i installed .NET 2.0 beta over previous .NET 1.1 installation. Should i remove .NET and then install it again but only 2.0 beta now?

No, it is better to have both versions on your system. But in this case anything should work. Is it possible that you have removed your .Net 1.1 before you have install the 2.0 beta?

Yes, it's possible. OK, i'll try to reinstall both .NETs when i get back home today.

If you want to fake Vendor and Device ID, do you have to fill in all fields of the Ident Changer?

I want to make Far Cry think it's running on a 6800 Ultra, so I'm just filling out Vendor and Device ID with 10DE and 40, and leaving all the other fields blank. Is that correct?

You need only add values the the fields you want to change.

Far Cry use a strange method to check your system. It is a mix that use information from the Ident and from the Caps. Because of this I am not sure if changing the Ident will you let reach your aim.

Anyway if you try to fake a card with a lower or equal featureset to a 6800U?

It seems to work if I set vendor and device ID, and device description. I wasn't getting HDR to work with a new NVIDIA board, but it seems OK now.

For those poking around with Far Cry's HDR and the new hardware, it seems you can also use 1.31 patch to make it work, if you don't want to use something like DX Tweaker (although it's a great tool, you should use it often :D)

So, does FC 1.31 allow you to select AA when you have selected HDR, or are they coded as mutually exclusive?

Deja Vue, I rember the same problem with the first NV40 based cards. Far Cry detected them wrong and you could not even use the NV20 feature level.
