This Fritzchens Fritz guy is incredible, AFAIK he sands down the chips by hand to take the die shots with regular camera(s). He has tons of other interesting chips die shots in his resume, too

Wasnt one of the possible names for the voodoo 6 was gonna be Zyklon, would of been a hit in Israel

These are infrared lamp illuminated, post-processed photos made with Sony NEX-5T camera and Leitz SECOLUX 6x6 microscope, picturing the real-world silicon die with metal lid removed and the copper Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS) sanded off.


There are quite a lot of die shots of various top-end Radeon GCN chips - as well as Nvidia GPUs, AMD Zen / K6 CPUs, Polaris22 (Kaby Lake G), and some historical 130/150 nm chips from 2000s, like Sun UltraSPARC IV, 3dFX Voodoo, fixed-function ATI Radeon etc.
