Destiny [PS3,X360,PS4,XO]

Not tried it yet!

I am fighting through ttk campaign with nightstalker.

Thank got the leveling is super fast in ttk.

I still didn't do a raid!

It's a good way to get a high level helmet if you play mostly solo, too. If you hit rank 2, you can get 300+ helmets. If you hit rank 3, you can get 310+ helmets.

Really love my DIS-43 with unflinching, hand laid, and fitted stock in crucible...mentioned it before, almost no recoil...

Whatever sight I'm using on it is incredibly open and minimalist too, love it.

I almost think I might like it better than Mida! What a great find. At least, it's my go to legendary scout.

I like that it will kill in one less body shot than Mida. It will kill in 5 body shots vs 6 for Mida. In fact, it's very forgiving because it will kill in 5 shots regardless. Missing a crit or no crits only means 1 extra shot, granted it's time to kill wont be great, but it's great at range.

So is scout the new meta king? Still not sure but that's what I've been rolling with. I think it's range dependent now. I should go back and try all my pulses since the patch. The one match I used Nerwin's since patch it seemed way weaker, but too small sample size.

I guess I'm gonna try SRL cause helmet is one of my weak spots (and I'm like one iota from being 316 now). My helm is only 310. Because I have yet to beat hard Oryx...and dont really try that much.

So far though, it seems really hard to level in. Races only give you 45 if you dont place top 3 (and I'm sure it's learning curve but so far I haven't in about 6 races). So if you dont place, you're trying to rank 45 points at a time, and if my calculations are right you need 9k rep to hit rank 3. 9k rep less than 50 at a time is ridiculous. By my calculations that's roughly 40 hours assuming races take 12 minutes (haven't timed them).

There's also bounties, but they seem less "gimmies" than IB bounties, they dont just automatically happen. And the quest bonuses also seem decently difficult.

I guess, you can probably halve that time by getting better/placing top 3 sometimes, bounties, and quests. 20 hours doesn't sound terrible. But looking at it some other ways, like needing 200 races at 45 points per race, yeah. I should have started last week.

Honestly, it will be a poor use of time, raiding would be a lot more lucrative, like IB I'll probably do it anyway though. I pretty much hate the actual racing. But I like a challenge/mountain to climb/goal to aim for.

I guess we will see how it progresses.

I just learned that for RAIDS there is no matchmaking?!? I was always wondering why I had t fight alone...

This is quite unfortunate actually....there is no chance I find 5 people to play this with me. This seems like really a lot of coordination and time management necessary...or is there a trick I don't see?

Lvl 39 with light level 207. It seems to be harder to get good gear now...but on the other hand, even the lvl 20 strikes that are available for me boost me in light level, although just a bit.

I did the arena thing and used my special key to open the box....I got an exotic weapon. But it was lvl 20?!?!? So, when I equip it, it reduces my light level...what a shame!!!!

Completed all of the challenge modes and leveled my characters up a few points, but 320 is still far away. Some of my buddies are 319 but most of them are running at least two of the same class. If I focused on one character I could have hit 319, but instead all of my characters are 317-318. Doesn't really make a difference as I've said but it would be nice to hit 320 some day.

Hoping to grind some SRL and hopefully get some high level helmets. I'm about rank 2.75 so I'm close to getting some 310+ helmets.

You should buy the 280 light Vanguard Ghost as fast as possible. Buying a few armor might be needed too but in general you'll collect normal gear fast enough to not really need it.

Focus on the TTK quests and level Vanguard/Crucible/Factions/*Gunsmith* and you'll get better gear. Also keep the 220 light Ghost you'll get from Dead Orbit after some quests and level it up later on as it gives glimmer on Fallen.

Court of Oryx also gives you better gear fast if you join games there with others.

You should also farm exotics with 3oC on Taken events in the Divide/Skywatch as there are usually others there carrying you to a win. Or you buy Exotics from Xur(comes on Friday-Sunday). Each exotic comes with lv280-290 at your stage.

To get the needed coins just do the daily bounties, SLR, PoE. After a few patrol bounties you'll get the unspecified version which gives you a few coins extra. Public events give you a lot motes too which are useful to level up factions or gear the fastest way.

Each time you go to the Cryptarch always equip your highest level gear before and *during* decoding.

If you follow this you can get to 290 quite easy. Then any progress slows down a lot unless you do the TTK Raid, lucky in IB/SLR or you're good in ToO.

If you want o play Raids or other high level events join www.the100.io.

No trick, you need to find a group and even then a bunch of randoms will likely take hours and fail. Basically Nightfalls are about the best you can hope for without coordination, but still no matchmaking.

At 40 a whole world of gear will open up. Start working on Armday rep with the gun guy. Head to the Dreadnought and do the court. Basically just do stuff for legendary marks, legendary engrams and start earning Strange Coins to spend at Xur or to do Three of Coins. I got a 310 fusion rifle last night doing the three strike trick, maybe it was luck or maybe there is something to it.

Prison of Elders? Ya, that is year one and will only get you 160 light stuff, stick to TTK content.

Best way to level is just play the vanguard strike playlist at whatever level is appropriate for you. Iirc, that levels you super fast with tons of blues. The game is basically on loot autopilot up to 280-290.

Also, be sure to use the trick of decrypting only one engram at a time when you have multiple engrams, checking it, equipping it if it increases your light, THEN decrypting the next one, and so on. That is key. The game will give you higher level stuff based on your current level up to a point. I cant stress the preceding enough it's basically THE key to leveling quicker prior to that ~280 plateau.

Cool! Thanks a lot for all the infos...I'll need some time to process all infos and make sense of them  but I never thought about this decrypting trick...nice!

Changed my mind and started SRL...really wish I had started last week as I'm behind 8 ball and it might be close whether I make it to rank 3, or more crucially how many shots at rk 3 loot I get once I get there.

It's fun though...this game is so ridiculously fun. At first I hated it but once I started having some success I enjoy it a lot more.

At least now I routinely finish top 3, where my first 10-15 races I never did. Have yet to finish first. Really dont care as top 3 will earn all the bounties and up through class S, so it doesn't matter that much.

Drop rate on helmets is like 1 in 4 races, so once you hit rank 3 it shouldn't take long to get some high level helmets. I've already got like 5 helmets in the 317-319 range, but still no 320. I've seen 320 helmets and class items drop for people.

Yeah if you're late to SRL, it will definitely take a while to get the hang of it because since there's only 2 tracks, a lot of people know them like the back of their hand now. Earlier on, racers would be spread out quite bit, but now everyone's battling for position. Almost every race I'm in, the completion times from 1st to last is only separated by like 2-4 seconds. Like crucible though, it seems to depend on the time you play. Late at night when I usually play, I can usually win the majority of my races, but during peak hours I usually place 2-4 and every race is very competitive.

SRL is fun and all, but the physics seem to be inconsistent/odd, and the amount of bumping is ridiculous. You could easily hold 1st place for most of the race but finish last by one mistake. It can be VERY frustrating at times.

Yep, agree with all you said. The difference between finishing 1-6 is often minuscule, you can lead the whole race and end up 5th in a scrum at the end. It's kinda Mario-Kart esque or NBA Jam with rubber band AI (expanding gates, and just the fact all the speeders are the same speed) And last night I had my first good run of placing top 3, and it was late so I was thinking about if the scrub players were on. I haven't really noticed that in crucible, but I haven't paid attention, I definitely notice crucible competition varies.

I definitely would have got way better loot by doing raid this week, so I'm kinda torn. Oh well I guess. I could do raid also, but it's a time crunch. Also a bit worried I'll end up with only a 313 helmet or something stupid from SRL, knowing this game. Oh well. It definitely is nice to do something different. I wonder if they could keep events going ever few weeks so we dont get bored before the next "big" DLC.

Class items dont seem to drop often at all, I've only gotten one the whole time so far. My cloak is 315, so it's not pressing like the helmet, but would be nice to get a good one, super nice to get 320 anything but odds are against it.

Again though if I had started SRL last week I probably would have had time to raid too. Oh well.

Overall I still love this "quiet" endgame and no new big DLC in a way, it all lets me enjoy the game leisurely instead of feeling pressed, and the 320 light gradients lets me continue to make small progress instead of just maxing early.

The one bounty I cant figure out is the tricks one. You need a trick sparrow...but somebody on reddit said the snowscream is a trick sparrow...that must be wrong?

BTW, I finally bought one of these new trick sparrows(EV36-Solscout) yesterday and it made a real difference. I've used the Tumbler before but Solscout seems to have a lower centre and stays far more stable on turns and speeding.

P.S. EV-40 Snowscream seems to be a slightly slower than EV34-Ravensteel which was gifted to long time Destiny players. It has no tricks. I switched between Ravensteel, Snowscream and Timebreaker for a while but then used the Tumbler until yesterday.

I thought all speeders were basically same speed?

Anyways, JUST got my first ever first place finish, embarrassingly enough. Weirdly, I've been keeping track of my times the last 20 or so races just to try to make sense of it, and it was one of my slowest times on that track. For example another time I turned in an absolutely blazing time and got 5th. Honestly the game seems to conspire against me. If I turn in a blazing time then the competition is even better hence I never get first. Oh well. I think it was just luck, I should have a handful of first place finishes already, but I just got unlucky a lot (my best runs were matched with even better competition each time by pure chance, I think) and so I dont think I will get the ~700 points for the Class S license (at least not when it matters, as I only care about rk 3 and I'm ~400 points away now). At least I get top 3 pretty regular.

BTW I use whatever sparrow you get from Class C, the snowscream I think, and my racing technique is simple, I never sideboost, never brake. I feel like I do good with this so no reason to change. I will back off the gas a bit on sharp turns. For me it's too hard to easily hit the sideboosts so I just ignore them. I dont really use any of the boosts from the equipment either (for example, I haven't unlocked air control on the helm) and since I never sideboost that sideboost perk is useless too. I guess the one perk that supposedly gets you back after a blown up sparrow might be helping me a little I really didn't notice.

I really hope I come out of it with a 320 helmet, not just a 310+. 320 Class Item would be nice too, but I've only had like 4 of those drop, they seem very infrequent. I have gotten one 310 helm so far, the rk2 equivalent of a 320 helm.

I can pick up a light point by getting a better helmet, a full one+ if I get a 320 as my current best is 310 (it takes about 8 points on a main item to equal one light point, I read somewhere, so for example =10 on a helmet should equal one full light point or more), if I could get a 320 heavy from Warpriest challenge this week, I could be very close or over 318 soon as my current best heavy is only 313 so that's almost another full point of possible gain.

The boost speed is lower on the racing sparrows sold by eververse as well as the snowscream. All rare sparrows upgraded to legendary and the raven steel are faster boost wise, but I think the racing sparrows control better.
