I know this is the console forum, but we're a decently closeknit group of folk that I figure this topic might be interesting..

Sort of similar to 'post your setup', but post your 'desktop'! I personally can't STAND a cluttered windows desktop.. nice and clean for me :)

Thats my laptop/main computer, sized down from 1400x1050.

Thats a fullscreen view of my remote desktop to my file server (P2 300, 246 gigs of space). No monitor, keyboard, mouse.. just a box and an ethernet cable :D

Slick 'desktop in desktop' picture :)

Anyone out there with interesting custom skinned windows?

Yikes, PC133 on an P4?

j/k, I love the network monitor.. man, I shudder to think what mine'd be :)

Yea LOL, I regret having PC-133 now.. I wish I had RD. However, I didn't know anything about computers back then so..

Still a good computer, fast, I keep my registry pretty slim.

Very slick Ozy (Shogo!!!!), but um, do you have eyesight problems? ;)

I only have a 17 inch Trinitron monitor. And the design of my desk and chair means that I have to sit back quite a bit to be comfortable. That's why the text and icons are so big.

Hopefully *crosses fingers* I'll be able to do something about this POS monitor soon :devilish:

DAMN YOU AND YOUR 16:10 MONITOR OF LOVE

Seriously, I would kill for a widescreen display. I seriously considered leasing another notebook from Dell just for their new models with the 1920x1024 15.4" displays :( (or the 17" Lapzilla Powerbooks from Apple)

I think I'm going to get a widescreen display. One of the LCD ones with HDTV inputs in addition to VGA ones.

It's going to suck finding decent desktop wallpaper though :p

Seriously though, good 16:10/9 displays can cost as much as an entire laptop with said display.. the premium on wide aspect ratio is insane.

I wanted the Apple 20" LCD Studio display before, it can be connected to PC with the ADC connector kit from Apple and some 3rd parties, but you lost all the picture controls unless you are on Mac OS X, you are only left with brightness and power buttons on the monitor.

Settled with Philips 170W4P as it costs only half while offering RGB/DVI inputs, and looks pretty slick, too.

I cut the wallpaper to size by myself, ha ha !

It is not hard to find 1280x1024 wallpapers, but cutting without hurting the content is hard.

I don't think I could ever work on a 16:9 monitor. TV is cool, but monitor - hell no. I need to have everything on the display within my eyesigt - moving the head or the eyes left and right is not desirable.

This will only be a problem when your monitor is big and you sit close to it, it will not be a problem when the monitor is small (20" or less), you are still seeing stuffs all at once, I usually work on multi-monitors when debugging programs.

How do you play your Xbox and Gamecube on the Philips, because AFAIK it doesn't have component input?

1. Keydigital transcoder, or
2. My prototype video processor (accepts anything from 480i->720p and scale to specific resolutions)

for 720p on X-BOX, I usually use Transcoder as the Philips recognise native 1280x720 mode.

Yeah, but 20" wide screen monitor - that is too small. I think 17" monitor has taller screen than that, no? I don't think I'd wanted wide screen for the sake of wide screen, when the 4:3 ratio fills my central field of vision nicely.

Icon of Coil!!!!!!

Right on dude :D

Man, Euros have not only the best taste in music, but can also see all these bands live :devilish: :devilish: :devilish: :devilish: :devilish: :devilish:

The ONE time Front 242, Einsturzende Neubauten and Project Pitchfork came to Toronto, I was 18 (liscensed show) :( :( :( And ofcourse, I've been legal for 3 years and jack nor shit has toured here (Pitchfork has stated they'd rather die than come to North America again heh).

*crosses fingers for VNV Nation, Covenant, and the Puppy reunion tour*
