I might have to get myself a cheap boxed copy of C2 now that Steam dropped it.
Holy crap! I hadn't realized Steam dropped it. Speaks volumes.

BTW, I've noticed other Steam games disappearing. Prey and TOCA 3 are games I purchased way back but are no longer for sale. I can still download them though. Prey apparently ran out of serial numbers!Update — This one's getting curiouser and curiouser. RPS has word that Crysis 2's removal from Steam was not EA's decision. Valve is reportedly responsible for pulling the plug. The reason? Crytek's agreement with "another download service" apparently conflicts with "new rules" for Steam. Adding to the intrigue, EA Games president Frank Gibeau has revealed that the company is "going to have some of [its] own platform exclusives" and "use exclusive content" to build an audience for its Origin platform. At the same time, he says that other digital distribution services will sell the company's games. Those alternatives might not get games first, though.
I assume they're just continuing with their existing AA method
No you're not the only one unsure of whether he can stomach buying from a download service EA named after one of the companies they assimilated and eventually erased. It does seem to be lost on a lot of people though. I'm guessing that a lot of gamers are too young to care about '90s game companies at this point.
But it wasn't EA that had Crysis 2 removed from Steam. Valve dropped it themselves due to some business reasons.

You're punishing EA (and yourself) because Valve is being greedy? :|

Supposedly EA deliberately violated the agreement so that Valve would pull Crysis 2 off Steam and then EA would sell it exclusively as a direct download on their own Origin service.
There are many good reasons to punish EA.

A bit of *meh* in my opinion.
Looks like the highest Crytek did for the texture resolution was simply to double the size of some maps, and that apparently isn't enough.
