Coreless Cell

That's what the 20GB of NAND would be for. That is the absolute minimum that Sony would need to support because of the 20GB launch PS3.

I don't think you can still say that a new slim is "definite", a little while ago there was this pc.watch article stating that Sony has no further shrinking plans for PS3. there was some speculation about skipping the 28/32nm and waiting for 20/22nm, but I don't know about that, I got the impression that it would require a lot of effort and redesigning for the chips to shrink further. IMO for Sony to put major focus to new PS3 models at this stage of the game would be kind of weird and unnecessary. It would be better to just roll with what they got and put the new design efforts into the PS4.

how much real savings would there be with ~ 32GB flash storage versus a 1.8" HDD of minimum capacity? If $10-15, the added sale of content with the larger storage, for those who use it, may be worth more than the losses. As that was the whole intention with HDD, if I were Sony I'd probably go with HDD and a month's free Qriocity subscription and a couple of free download games for every new customer of this PS3Slim, and promote the whole long-term service aspect, with the added value of 'locking' buyers into the PS brand for PS4.
