Well, with everything thats been said on the topic ad nausem here for the past few months, I'd think most people would know where they stand on the subject.

Obviously, things will be much clearer in 2 years, but I'm curious about what they think today.

I havent read every post on ps3, but how likely is it that sony et al have 2 tracks. One using the cell tech, and another which is more traditional and less risky. In the event that they cant produce a cell ps3 than theyll quickly switch to the other tech.

All it will take for sony to loose its #1 position is not being able to deliver on time and for its competitors to capitalize.

Well, like a few of us have already mentioned.. there is no other track for two reasons. First, all the money and R&D Sony has poured into Cell, and Two, that no one will launch before them and risk Dreamcast-style-hype-death. Sony calls when the next gen starts, simple as that. Also, Nintendo and MS would be more than happy to maximize their profits by having their current systems stay on the shelf longer

If there was some Cell Grp(ala DVD/BR) than it might be possible, but no. It is only Sony/IBM/Toshiba. Cell, at best, will powered the PS3 and deliver a small dose of BB Lifestyle to those rich and hardcore few. It might still be a lucky hit, but i am very skeptical.

Stop dreaming for those who vote yes.

Of course, this is in regards to Sony's all in one Cell-tigrated dreamy BB Lifestyle dreams.

If SCEI is right on the PS3 money, than it should yet another good console success. I hope for a good durable PS3 games console minimum, Kutaragi better not be pushing the boundaries.

it's PR what do you expect? in PS3 and Sony consumer devices should turn a project and be very advantageuos for them (the Sny grp if you like).

this is all I expect.

can you blame (and indeed ridicule)them for there optimism and interest? I get the feeling from some of the CELL supportors on this board that they are genuinely interested in all aspects of CELL, and actively speculating on it's growth potential.

besides pessimists although neccessary on a BBS bore the crap outta me.

Afterall, the question is, "The CELL project, in its many incarnations, will overall succeed". Which i take it means more than just PS3..
