SUNNYVALE, Calif Dec. 1, 2006 — Capcom® today announced that Lost Planet™: Extreme Condition for Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft will take center stage in the heart of New York Times Square throughout the month of December. A gripping 60-second trailer for the game will be broadcasted on the 3,000 square foot NBC SharpVision HDTV screen at the intersection of 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue from December 4 through 31. The promotional spots will highlight action-packed footage from the game and will generate more than 40 million impressions during its scheduled run which covers two of the year's biggest holidays: Christmas and New Year's Eve. Lost Planet carries a “T†rating for teen audiences by the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) and will be available across North America on January 12.

“Our goal is to share the incredible Lost Planet experience with as many people as possible,†said Charles Bellfield, vice president, marketing, Capcom Entertainment, Inc. “What better way to make an impact than by presenting the game in one of the most recognized and visible spots in the world, during the busiest time of the year.â€

Combining a gripping single player campaign and intense multiplayer modes with support for up to 16 players via Xbox Live® online game service, Lost Planet promises to be an epic gaming masterpiece. Taking full advantage of Xbox 360’s unprecedented power, Lost Planet will contain an unrivalled level of detail as advanced light sourcing is used to ensure a realistic presentation that enhances every explosion, smoke and particle effect. Enormous world maps unfold as players battle hostile creatures in blistering weather conditions across vast snow fields and deserted cities either on foot or in armed Vital Suits.

Lost Planet’s action-packed multiplayer demo is available for free download on Xbox Live® Marketplace. For gamers who preorder either the standard or collector's edition of the game with participating retailers, they will receive a special token card with a unique code that will allow them to download a separate, special version of the demo which contains an additional multiplayer map. Capcom debuted Lost Planet’s multiplayer gameplay at this year’s Leipzig Games Convention, where its riveting action netted top honors as the Best Xbox 360 Game at the show. In addition, the game was chosen by Tokyo Game Show attendees as one of the winners of the illustrious Future Award.

Exclusively available for Xbox 360, the standard edition will carry a suggested retail price of $59.99 and the limited Collector’s Edition will be available for $69.99, while supplies last. Packaged in a custom designed SteelBook™ case featuring exclusive cover art, the premium set will include the game, art book with exclusive concept art and a heap of multimedia content. As a special bonus, gamers that purchase the Collector’s Edition will have exclusive access to an additional multiplayer map for several months before it is made available as a free download on Xbox Live Marketplace, in summer 2007.

Hope somebody makes a youtube.

I hope they plan on showing, what I believe to be, some of the best explosions to-date. Lost Planet is the only demo that has staying power on my hdd.

Seriously, if MS doesn't take a BIG share of the market this generation, i'll eat my balls.

I think MSFT is hoping that Capcom has a number in their head, if the game can hit said number, it becomes exclusive, if not, then the inevitable port will follow. I want to see how Dead Rising does this holiday season, I'm wondering if it can get into the 600-750 range, and if its "Hits" status next year will give it another boost. I would also like to know how many units they thought they were going to sell since they say it was beyond their expectations. I also hope the Lost Planet doesn't go the opposite way, because unlike scooby ;), I like it alot.

This is one of my most anticipated 360 games. The single player looks amazing. It'll probably push me to get a 360 (also GOW as well). :p

Capcom had, originally, announced that they expected to ship 600.000 units of DR worldwide until the end of 2006.Then at the end of October they announced that they had shipped already 900.000(remember shipped=sold for Capcom).I expect them to have shipped around 1.2 million copies(worldwide) of DR by the end of 2006 thus doubling their initial projections.

Hm... DR has about 540K units sold in the US according to LB's source. Is it popular in europe too?

It went straight to n.1 at U.K multiplatform software chart setting a new record for fastest selling xbox360 game.Since that's the only "Official" software chart that we get and since the U.K is roughly 30% of the whole European market,i'd say it is quite popular.

When you account the sales of U.S+Europe+Australia+Canada+Japan at the end of October i'd say that most,if not all, of the 900.000 shipment has been sold out and Capcom must have printed more copies for the holiday season.
