Can you recommend this Camera?

Shiro EX330 Digital Camera, 3.3 Mega Pixel, CCD Image Sensor, 4 x Digital Zoom, 16mb

I'm looking for a camera and saw this 3.3MP camera at a great price. It's got 4x zoom but I read you shouldn't use it.

Any other camera recommendations??

I think it depends on your budget. A big brand 3M CCD camera are still around US$200 or more.

If you have about US$300 to spend on a camera, I'd suggest a brand-name camera with at least 1/1.8" CCD. Zoom lens is not really that important, but it's a nice plus, of course.

as a rule of thumb u should avoid digital cameras with out any optical zoom... other than that the specs of that camera look fine...

Digital zoom is not terribly useful as it only crops the picture, producing lower resolution output. I'd definitely go with an optical zoom. Also, 16 MB of memory is gonna run out quickly on a 3.3 MP camera so you'll prolly need to calculate in the price of an extra flash card. But of course it all comes down to how much you have to spend.

I'm no expert but after reading some reviews and comparing features I went with the Canon A75, which is a 3.2 MP device. It can be had for about 200$ with a 32 MB card. Compared to my previous Minolta I completely and utterly love this camera. It is fast, very easy to use, works pretty well even in low light conditions, and it has very accurate color reproduction.
