Hi Guys,
I just recently for the first time decided I'd throw one of my old PSX games into the PS3. Big Race USA, the third of the Pro Pinball series, is one game that has aged rather well in terms of graphics and sound. It was even better on the PC, where I have the previous two versions, but I was amazed back then how well they managed to get this to run on the then already ageing PS1.
So, sure enough, it runs fine, but finally, with the crispness of HD, you get to see its true graphical limitations, and the sound sounds a bit muted at times also.
Much was my surprise, however, when I noticed the words "cd information cannot be found". Turns out that all the music is also available as regular audio tracks, something which I guess I had forgotten about some PS1 games did ... So I tried to play the tracks, and wow! Turns out there is some awesome music on there, and in awesome quality too! Some of the best parts I hadn't ever even heard in the game, because I never got good enough at it (it's a tough one).
It really just sounds totally now-gen Very funny. Sound quality is just awesome.
Turns out there is a fourth table that I missed, Fantastic Journey. Must try to get that somewhere sometime.
This is certainly a game that could do with a PSP release ... (I might try getting it on my homebrew version myself sometime)
