Beyond3D podcast

Yep. And I decided to cut about 45 minutes at the end as well, as I was clearly very tired, was just listing a lot of news in a boring and every slowing down way, and you weren't saying much then either, making it just a very, very long monologue. As that brings the podcast down to a still respectable 2:16:03, I think we can live with that.

So, here it is, the public beta of the first episode! ;) There's no music, its a bit rough here and there, we forgot to introduce it with a date and such, we had some connection issues making Max sound low-res when we had such a great quality before, it was really hot when recording over here (more than 30 degrees in my room, and it was well after midnight before we ended), etc. etc. etc. But hey, you've got to begin somewhere! I promise we'll quickly get better at this, and I think we have a good shot at bringing you some cool interviews in the near future also.

I uploaded the podcast here - if anyone has a better location, drop me a line:

EDIT: maybe I should make a new thread for it?

I'm listening it currently. Sounds interesting and very clear voices and good sound quality. I have to say though that geographically you are a bit further than you thought hehe as you mentioned 2500 km, when the distance really is about 6700 km :)

I'll listen the whole thing today, congrats on getting this running!

A new thread would seem to be a good idea. You could establish the pattern of: new thread announces latest podcast -> community discussion takes place in thread -> comments and questions from thread are incorporated into next podcast.

I'm making notes as I listen and will have some feedback when there is a dedicated place for it.

First thing I noticed though... volume! I had to turn it up ridiculously high... I was walking outside for a bit, and I had a hard time hearing it even with max volume. ;)

I'm wondering if discussing the console threads is a good idea or not because it's a fine line between summarizing or making note of some "good" posts but then turning it into a one-sided discussion... I don't know, just something to think aboot.

More thoughts later...

EDIT: maybe I should make a new thread for it?
I was thinking a sticky thread just for Podcast updates and topics covered would be sufficient along with separate discussion threads for each episode (not stickied). An entire sub-forum doesn't seem particularly necessary IMO.

Just start with the specific thread for the moment, and we can manage accordingly depending on traffic. I couldn't download the cast to listen. Just got a 17kb HTML file. I'll give it another go later. Probably need to swtich of accelerators.

Accelerators only work if you have a premium account with RS, IIRC. :)

Opera is a great backup, best browser for the default features it has (basically everything normal people might need is in there), downloading being a big one because it also has easy and built in bittorrent support. Firefox was a favorite for me the last month (I keep using all of them, to keep an eye on how they develop), but now I get four Chrome registration errors each time I boot it up. *sigh*

So it's been a while, but this week one of the interviews came through and recorded this afternoon, so we've got some content up here. It'll still have to be edited, and then approved for release, but I'm personally not expecting too many problems with that, so we've got some good content here.

It's enough for a standalone episode, I think, but it is also a really good way to kickstart the podcast. You'll have more info soon. In the meantime, I'll be back on the process of getting new co-presenters on board.
