Best Headphones ?

The HD555 is virtually identical to the HD595 and costs quite a bit less.

Mufu@ How would you describe the sound of the HD-600? Cold/Warm etc. compared to other headphones?

It's difficult to say, having not heard that many headphones, but I'd agree with the general consensus that the HD580 and HD600 are fairly "laid back" in character compared to other cans (especially rival products from Sony and Grado). They are not ideal for listening to rock music; a rather sweeping statement to make, but they don't have the kind of immediacy/intimacy required to make some tracks as enjoyable as they should be. Nevertheless, they are extremely detailed (often, spookily so), with excellent performance at both ends of the spectrum and no real performance weaknesses IMHO. I wouldn't say they're particularly "warm" or "cold", in fact we've been using a pair as studio monitors because they're very transparent and unflattering (in a good way). Plus they're awesome for monitoring when you're recording vocals because of the open backs.

For gaming and watching films (with Dolby Headphone) they are absolutely superb.

My favourites are the Grado Prestige Series. Don't think they pair really well with a PC though. Maybe if you had one of those Audigy platinums with the 1/4" jack.
