I hear they also moved the location of the reveal last minute, from Chernobyl to Wuhan. Chernobyl was SO last year.

...the bottom of the Marianas Trench. It's the super secret Sony research facility. Godzilla will have a guest appearance.

At very least you should believe that these two people are way more believable and better sourced than me or you.
Sony will probably not do any reveal in February. It is a new marketing team, they will want to do things in their own way.
This would not have been call PS5 but something like PS4 Pro 2. It was a design they think about long ago.

Pentello's comments just make me wonder how conservative or crazy Sony may have intended to go with a 2019 Jaguar version. How many cores can you squeeze into 8c Zen2's footprint? 16/24/32?
I can't help but think of some ex-cell engineer arguing for more cores at every design meeting. "Oh, shut up Gary, that was three years ago. We're going with Zen!"

Well, whatever the source, that's bullshit. Cerny is a true believer of generations with clear differences between generations. That FUD is misterxmedia level of fanfiction. But I am not surprised that's coming (and maybe originating) from Digital Foundry, they were the one that first spread the FUD that Ghost of tsushima and TLOU2 demos were running on PS5 devkit.
And coming from Penello: the irony. As he and his colleagues at MS used Jaguar in 2017 on their new console when Zen was available. Maybe he is just using his own experiences at MS: "We used Jaguar in 2017, Sony would have done the same in 2019".

It is not a 2019 design from what I heard out of here. It was just something they explored early. Don't forget Cerny told the design began in 2015 before release of PS4 Pro.
EDIT: People need to understand Sony launched PS4 Pro and they were not knowing what will be the result. This design was studied if the midgen consoles would have push the generation longer without hardware sales slowing down.

From what I know the Jaguar design was scrapped afters devs objected to it.
No idea. The funny thing we had a good leak out of the SSD of the Xbox side in January 2019 but we don't know what will be the PS5 8, 9, 10 or more Tflops, what will be the price 399 or 499 dollars/euros.

If it behooves you, MS considered at one time going streaming only for next gen.
So yes, bad plans get scrapped. All the time. Doesn't make them FUD.
