ATI at E3

I'll put a vote of confidence up for the rage128 too! I love me old 32MB Rage Fury (non-Pro) and it was an excellent piece of hardware, it's just the drivers really sucked back then. (Finding/mixing drivers for the rage128 was pretty much how I got into video cards)

ATi had great hardware for a while, it's just been their drivers have never really taken advantage of/used that hardware before the last year and a half, two years or so.

I'm really expecting great things out of the R420, I'm just trying to keep me enthusiasm/optimism in check because I know it'll be just chalked up to fanboy enthusiasm. ;)

um no micron invented gddr3 and is supposedly making as much 833 as they can. samsung is way behind the curve in gddr3 and the rumor is that the only reason they have it at all is because they kiped the plans for it from micron. Micron has tightened up sucrity a whole bunch and are very unhappy about it all.

Oh dear. The spec were open from day one, all JEDEC members have access. Micron is one such member, as are a bunch of other DRAM makers.

The memory was MADE before the spec was adopted. Samsung was NOT apart of the spec. Micron was first to deliver, with the help of ATI and a couple of others before the spec was adopted.
