I meant that the electronic component of the fan is working properly but the mechanical part of the fan doesn't turn over because it lacks oil on the spindle. Many would consider the electronic component to be faulty and give up without trying to disassemble the fan and putting oil on the spindle which unfreezes the fan. Two of my fans do this already and need to be oiled once every few months. My ballbearing cpu fan on the other hand just keeps on spinning without any assistance from me. I don't understand why vendors skimp on this on the video card fans. I have seen hundreds of "my fan failed what should I do" type posts on the hw forums. Having 2 fans on the asus card equals double the trouble if they keep on freezing and producing weird noise. The ballbearings are cheap enough to be implemented on all fans, imo. Their benefit outweights the constant problem reports and probably rmas as well.
