Assassins Creed Unity [PS4, XO]

The character models look a little better I'd hardly call it night and day. Environments, big improvement for sure not the character models.

Would love to play as a female protagonist with the new engine due to the much improved cloth physics and better lighting. The game really is a big step up from AC4, just hope the missions and story are interesting for me to finish.

I had to double-take.

I honestly read "b00b physics".
*ashamed*

It's the environments, lighting in particular and texture work that makes it all look considerably better than any AC game before it (even better than watchdogs too for that matter).

Look it's only my opinion, but the character models stick out like a sore thumb. Definitely not on par with the rest of the visuals.

I have not said the rest of the game doesn't look good so I'm struggling to a reason for this back and forth.

'Nuff said.

The game looks fairly good, just a lot of aliasing going on. The NPCs look decent as well, nothing mind-blowing though, but a step in the right direction with the AC series. Anyhow, hopefully a better AA solution is implemented before release.

Indeed! The face looks so natural along with his expressions. Hey Laa-Yosh is that a model you worked on? ;)

We sometimes deliver assets to clients, but in this case that character is clearly not present in our trailer. It's also obviously based on the 3D scan of a real actor, and so are the facial expressions. However I have no idea what type of approach they're using; but Ubi is known to produce lots of BTS material so we may learn more about the tech in the future.

Key systems like the facial animation should not be different between versions. PCs might be able to render at higher resolutions and quality, but it wouldn't make sense to develop completely new tech for a port that's probably only going to account for a minority of the sales.
