Assassins Creed Unity [PS4, XO]

Common guys, we need to clean the act up a bit. I haven't seen such blatant disrespect on this forum towards an unfinished product, we should at least wait im until the DF interview to see what features they brought in that traded off IQ. It's got issues, but I'm not even sure if graphical issues are its major ones; they should be looking into the employee base who are constantly leaking all their builds on this title for some time now.

Lighting and environment detail looks fantastic though. Really liking the crowd density as well. As long as we can push the PC version way above console limitations then I think I'll be getting this before my usual wait-for-$10-on-steam-sale.

That pop in is bad. But I don't see any obvious any pop-in, at much longer distances, in the PlayStation 4 youtube video :???:

About 4 seconds in the youtube video, you can see down an alley and see pedestrians in the alley and in the street beyond.

Then around 27 seconds in when the assassin is running down the side of the cathedral, you can again see pedestrians rendered much further into the distance.

What's the source of the gif?

Tailing missions galore ! The dreaded tailing missions, the thing I hate th emost in ACs and the demo footage they released last had that very thing in there reminding me of all the painful times instantly

My colon literally clenched when I read "tailing missions", crickey I hated those. Really for this game series it's not the visuals that concern me so much anymore, it's that the game mechanics have become really stale. I hope they don't get so focused on visuals to where they don't improve how this series plays because to me it's become one tired series alas, as much as I used to like it many a moon ago.

There was talk about revising the entire mission system and making stealth both more important and more functional as well.

Yup. These "black box" mission structures are the only thing keeping in vaguely interested. The only reason I finished Black Flag was because I could intersperse pirating when the main campaign, frequently, became tedious.

Good thing that my trusty GTX680 is minimum requirement so I can get the pc version, when it's on sale.. 3 months after release.

It feels like I'm on NeoGAF... *shivers*

The revised mission system is that u can have multiple quests going on at the same time now, main quest+side missions.
For making stealth more viable they made the fighting difficult. They say you can't bash one button to get thru fights anymore and fighting would be more difficult. So,stealth would feel like a better approach.
As for black box missions, there are only a few and that too have fixed ways of accomplishing objectives. As in there are 3 ways to do this: you can do one. The one devs showed had the same 'go there, press this button' structure. Nothing emergent.
Previews say the new combat is very unfun, the parkour clunky and the frame rate stutters. Now the gfx from the release version seem bland.

It will still sell like hotcakes. Such is our industry.

All in all I'm actually pretty excited. Looking forward to exploring Virtua Paris next Thursday. If there's one thing I already cannot stand about the game is that Ubisoft created all these wonderfully emotive and distinct looking npc faces, and then they put me into the shoes of yet another forgettable, brown-haired, network-tv-actor looking pretty boy (with an equally generic red haired hottie for a gf).

I watched somebody called l337saucee play open world, he was avoiding missions to prevent banning, but played for an hour of hour. The game is looking pretty good and in plenty of places you can see hundreds of pedestrians.

Very impressive. :)

I am really looking forward to this. Some early players on PS4 are saying that while you notice its 900p, the game still looks noticeably better than Black Flag. Framerate holds at 30fps quite well most of the time, but there are some slowdowns, and some rare bugs (Chapelle mission) where the framerate drops into the single digit range briefly.

I think I will preorder this (and also start thinking about upgrading that harddrive ... ). Look forward to tracking the issues in www.techingames.net ;)

EDIT (yes, it works!): pre-ordered. :)
