The textures on the new models are gorgeous, however.. the old Alyx was a woman you could actually find in your living room.. the new Alyx is one you'd pay just a happy meal to get into your bedroom.

I honestly find the new Alyx a lot better in detail and actually quite fitting and sexy face (lips have to much collagen buttt...) most of the new characters to except Alyxs father which looks to young or something. Cant really put my finger on why he seems to not fit into game. But it is great CM mod still leaves the option for you to chose original Alyx and orig HD Alyx model with the included "charater pimper" program.
It's like he's basically just dumping poser models into the game at this point.

Don't get me wrong, I always check out his mods and for the most part they are stunning, but characters models are not his strong suit. They don't fit at all with the game, especially for established characters at this point. Why does Eli look like a runway model? Really ridiculous aesthetic preference he's got going.

Nah, that's just what happens when you import a cheap Poser model into your game without doing much to change it. A couple of the older Victoria models had a big problem with poofy lips, that you had to go out of your way to clear up.. most people don't, and you get stuff that looks like that. I prefer the original Alyx as well.

Are the enemies any different?

EDIT: Holy hell it's an 11GB download, I wanted to try this but that's more than half my data cap :(

You can chose a new HD model for enemies or keep old type. Quite radical difference between both enemy outfits. And yes it is one huge mod and even the patch for uppgrading from 10.x to 10.40 is about 6.4GB!

I tried the 10.4 mod last night with just HL2 so far - uh, is everything supposed to be this dark? The train station was almost completely pitch black!

I'm replaying Half Life 2 on PC now that I have one that can play it (well...laptop actually). The unmodified version still finds time to look good. The green darkness issue can be distracting though and there seems to be some crazy performance issues on a mobility 5650. Still, good enough after being stuck on PS3 for so long:

Didn't know this line was in the game

"Lamarr is extremely wary of your crowbar"

I've never heard / seen that dialogue before either.

Hey Neb, I was wondering if you might have a solution to this pickle regarding Crysis;

Remember the downscaling effect you can use by specifying an r_height and r_width value higher than your monitor can handle, which the game downsamples? I can't seem to get it to work on LCD's. On my CRT (max of 2048x1536), I could downsample from pertty much any amount I wanted, but I've replaced that with a 1920x1080 LCD and it simply won't do it. setting r_height or r_width to anything higher than 1920x1080 makes the screen flash briefly, but does not downsample from that resolution... However setting any resolution BELOW that works just fine, so it's as if it can no longer downsample for some reason (as if it were physically forced at 1920x1080 max).

It's the same deal on the LCD TV down at the house. That's 1360x768, and refuses to downsample from anything higher. Have you had this issue? Or am I maybe missing something obvious..

Are they both running at 60Hz becouse IIRC when downscaling in Crysis it forces 60Hz. I'll check it up.

60hz, yep. Nothing's changed as far as configs go, so cheats are enabled and everything is just as it was before moving over to these monitors.

Maybe I need to try some different monitor drivers? The 24" on my PC is a BenQ but I run the official drivers for that, however the LCD TV just uses whatever generic driver XP SP3 decided to...

I was hoping someone would have a link to (or at least the name of) the mod or something.
