Any way to "test" the 360 headset?

Picked up a 360 (very, very impressed btw) - however, one problem is I haven't heard anyone's voice come through the headset, except in one or two brief moments in a GOW match. Is there a way to test the input/output of it? The plastic sheath around the 1.3mm cable means I can't jam it into my PC's soundcard inputs.

Act as if you are sending a voice message to someone, it will record, you can then play back the message and see if you hear anything.

A couple of times it seemed to go out on me. I resolved that by simply unplugging it and then plugging it back in. If you are doing that, you should hear a slight hiss if you have the volume maxed out.

Thanks, it's a no-go - no sound either way. Ah well, hopefully it's just the voice headset and not the controller, but I'll bring in both anyway (get to take advantage of that 2 year warranty right off the bat!). :)

Have you checked your x360 settings?

Make sure you check "unmute mic" or something like that, and to play voice tru headphones.

further check your parental settings (dont remember how you do it) but i do remember that i had this bug and i had to go into parental settings and uncheck something ive never turned on to begin with

Thanks, but checked every blade in 360 dashboard as well as GoW itself, don't see that option at all. There is the switch and volume control on the mic itself of course, which I've experimented with.

No "child profiles" exist, so I can't adjust parental settings.

i doesnt have to have child profiles in order to adjust it. I only had 1 gamertag at the time when it happend.

Oh and its on in the blades, press the guide, and go to personal settings.
