Any good cheap (FREE?) DVD-to-HD Rippers out there?

I just want to save batteries on the laptop when pulling 15 hour flights to Japan...is there anything cheap to rip movies to the hard disk? No need to burn new DVDs or anything...

Assuming you have DVD software on the laptop, and you don't care about recompressing, there is a bunch of free software that will work.

DVDShrink is prettyt easy to use.

"#1 DVD Ripper" does the job, it's freeware and straightforward to use.

image it and mount it with daemon-tools, I think that should work. Unless you want to switch formats and pare things down as well.

Wound up using DVD Decrypter. It can edit streams so I can avoid winding up with the french track defaulting and I don't have to have the entire ISO. Seems okay. Have to set windvd to use a playlist though.
